Youngster Kyle Okposo scored a power-play goal for the Isles in their 3-1 victory over the Senators. Trent Hunter also added a power-play goal while Bill Guerin scored at even strength.

Kyle Okposo will work on the Islanders' top line with Doug Weight and Bill Guerin, according to Newsday. Coach Scott Gordon said, "Kyle is going to be an offensive player in the NHL for sure. His skill level, his strength, his skating, his passing and shooting ability, it's a good package. You want to make sure the guy playing with Dougie and Billy is a guy that's capable of scoring and making plays with the consistency they have."

The Islanders praised Kyle Okposo, according to Newsday. Team GM Garth Snow said, "He's a high-character kid, he's got great hockey sense and a nice skill set, so it's a great combination. He's a special player, a special kid and we're happy he's part of this organization." Okposo commented, "Now I know what I want to do and I have specific goals for the year. I don't want to just make the team and lolligag through. I want to be a good player on this team."

Kyle Okposo , the top prospect and future superstar for the New York Islanders, is reportedly going to get a strong look in the team’s remaining nine games, according to the New York Daily News. Okposo has joined the team and will be seeing significant playing time starting tonight versus Toronto. The 7th-overall pick of the 2006 NHL entry draft, Okposo left the University of Minnesota early after signing a three-year, entry-capped contract in December, an agreement that does not take hold until next season as long as the 19-year-old phenom plays in less than 10 games. That time has come.
