Patrick Kane won the Calder Trophy on Thursday night awarded to the best rookie in the league, according to TSN. Kane beat out Nicklas Backstrom of the Caps and his teammate, Patrick Kane for the award.

Rumors are circulating that the next Winter Classic in the NHL will be played in Chicago, according to TSN. According to the report, the Blackhawks will face the Red Wings in the league's annual outdoor game on New Year's Day.

Patrick Kane scored Chicago's lone goal in a 4-1 loss to Detroit on Sunday. Kane has now scored 72 points this season, and notably scored a goal in three straight games.

Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists in the Blackhawks 6-2 victory over the Red Wings. Kane continues to push for the rookie scoring title and now has 69 points in 80 games on the year. Kane has totaled 17 points in his last 16 games, so despite weighing in at barely 170 pounds, the grind of his first NHL season does not appear to be wearing him down.

Kane has battled through adversity in his rookie year and he has proved beyond a doubt that he can be successful even though he is on the smallish side at 5'10", 170 pounds.
