Ryan O'Bryne signed a 3-year deal to remain a member of the Montreal Canadiens, according to The Sports Network. "Ryan acquired a great deal of NHL experience last season," said GM Bob Gainey. "He is part of our young core of defenseman and certainly has the potential of becoming a very good NHL player." Shawn Belle also signed a 1-year deal.

A day after he was recalled to the NHL, Ryan O'Byrne was arrested and charged with stealing a woman's purse according to AP. Also arrested was Tom Kostopoulos who was charged with resisting arrest. Luckily for both players, the team will not impose any sanctions though what happens with the law remains to be seen. "They must face whatever awaits them after their actions," GM Bob Gainey said. Great move Ryan, way to ingratiate yourself with the team. He had little fantasy value to begin with and this situation certainly doesn't figure to garner him extra playing time.

Ryan O'Bryne was recalled from the AHL to join the Canadiens on Sunday. O'Bryne missed 16 games because of a broken hand suffered in a fight on December 28th. The 6'5", 225 lbs O'Bryne will add some toughness to the Montreal lineup from the blueline though he only has 18 PIM in 11 games this season meaning he certainly isn't someone to add at the moment if you are looking for the rough stuff.
