Sergei Fedorov will not play for Russia in the Turin Olympics, according to the AP. Fedorov said he needed the time to recuperate from a nagging injury and to adapt to his new team. "I don't think it is appropriate to delay my decision about the Olympics any further," Fedorov said in a statement released through IMG, which handles his business affairs. "As much as I would enjoy representing my country in Italy, I'm afraid that at this point in the season my focus has to remain with the Columbus Blue Jackets."

Sergei Fedorov returned to the ice for a 15-minute, non-contact skating session on Monday as he continues his recovery from a left groin strain, according to the OC Register. He is expected to skate for about 20 minutes today and hopes to return soon. "This was the first time I skated pain-free," Fedorov said. "It wasn't a hard skate, it was a light skate. But it was pain-free, and I did not hesitate to skate lightly."
