Mike Modano broke the record for most points produced by an American-born player by scoring two goals in Wednesdays win over the Sharks. He has 1,233 points, which puts him one point ahead of retired defenseman Phil Housley.

Mike Modano has two points and a minus-3 rating in nine games this season. Things have gotten so bad for the veteran that coach Dave Tippett appears set to start Modano on their fourth line, according to the Dallas Morning News. Ouch. Look for Modano to turn things around, but he's never going to return to his former fantasy stud production.

Mike Modano scored twice Satuday night to pass Joe Mullen for the most goals by an American-born player with 503. "I've been feeling good, I've been getting chances," Modano said. "Tonight it just seemed like I only had a couple of shots and they seemed to go in." Modano trails only Phil Housley for points scored by an American-born player. Housley had 1,232 points in his 1,495-game career. Modano has 1,217 points. "I'm going to try to get that one too," Modano said. "I'd hate to go a whole summer and be four or five points away."

Mike Modano is expected to return to the lineup tonight, according to the Dallas Morning News. He's been out since Dec. 4 with hip and groin injuries. "It's as close as I'm going to get," Modano said, when asked if he's 100 percent. "It's not going to feel any better by Thursday or Saturday. The sooner I can get in there and get my legs going and get into those game situations, the better."
