Mike Modano was thought to be the center of the Stars third line, but early in camp he has skated on the second line with Brad Richards and Sean Avery, according to the Dallas Morning News. "It's probably experimental, but we'll see how it goes," Modano said. If this experiment sticks, Joel Lundqvist would likely center the third line.

The Dallas News suggests that the Star postseason surge likely gave Mike Modano reason to return in 2008-09. "There's a little bit of indecision still there," Modano said. "The big tell is going to be when I have to start working out again. That's when I will know if I'm ready to do it again or not."

Veteran center Mike Modano is not the prolific scorer he once was, but he still gets the job done when the job gets tough. Tonight he scored the Stars' game-winning goal to put Dallas back in the hunt for survival, winning 3-1 in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals over Detroit.

Mike Modano scored the game winning goal on Monday night with a power-play tally with under four minutes left in the game. Modano also added an assist in the game, the seventh straight victory for the Stars. Modano certainly isn't the scorer he once was, but he does have 16 goals and 41 points after a dreadful start that saw him score only two goals and produce five points over his first 14 games.
