Darryl Sydor made his first playoff appearance of the season in Wednesday's Game 3 against Detroit, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The Penguins are getting desperate. They will unleash defenseman Darryl Sydor on the Red Wings in Game 3, the Canadian Press reports. Sydor, 36, has yet to appear in the playoffs, but he will replace rookie Kristopher Letang. "Darryl had a great season for us, but we have a lot of depth on defense and our defense was also doing really well," coach Michel Therrien explains. "Its a different story now."

The Penguins signed Darryl Sydor to a two-year, $5 million contract on Monday, according to the AP. He had five goals and 16 assists last year for Dallas in 74 games.
