Roenick maintains that he suffered the 10th concussion of his career in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals on May 15. Even during the NHL lockout, under the terms of the expired collective bargaining agreement, all injured players from last season must be paid.

"We are following up on the facts reported in the [Inquirer]," Bill Daly, the NHL's executive vice president and chief legal officer, said. "If they are as reported, then there is nothing Jeremy Roenick did that was in violation of the league's policy."

Federal agents that raided a gambling operation in Florida were surprised to see the name of Jeremy Roenick listed among clients for National Sports Consultants, a company that made millions by selling sports betting tips to gamblers, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Roenick denies that he ever gambled on hockey, and said he quit gambling completely after being approached by Flyers GM Ed Wade this past season. Roenick is not - and hasn't been - the subject of any investigation involving the matter, even though one investigator said he allegedly paid "somewhere north of $100,000" for gambling tips.
