Jeremy Roenick notched a hat trick Saturday night in the Coyotes' 8-0 shutout win over the Sharks. He came into the game with only one goal and five assists in 31 games this season.

Jeremy Roenick left his teammates after being scratched Tuesday with a back injury and watched at least part of the game at a restaurant, according to the Arizona Republic. Coach Wayne Gretzky plans to bench Roenick tonight as a result, and it's possible Roenick's tenure with the team could be coming to an end. "I treat players like men and they should act like men," Gretzky said Wednesday. "JR, all and all, has been pretty positive. But the reality is, last night he made a mistake. ... There will be ramifications for what happened."

Jeremy Roenick says he's fine with fourth-line duty, the Arizona Republic reports. Roenick was the team's fourth-line center Thursday and played 14 minutes. "I can be a pain in somebody's side," Roenick said. "I can take that role and pay a lot of attention to it and take pride in a job that every team needs. It doesn't hurt my ego at all."
