Martin Lapointe was traded to Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. The Blackhawks will receive a 2008 sixth-round pick for his services. According to TSN.ca, Lapointe was signed to a three-year, $7.2 million contract by the Hawks in 2005 and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Martin Lapointe is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He's missed the last seven games with a bruised kidney.

Martin Lapointe, nursing a groin injury, skated Tuesday and said he was feeling better, according to the Chicago Tribune. Blackhawks coach Trent Yawney said he wants Lapointe to practice with the full team before playing in a game and didn't rule out sitting him out of the season opener if he isn't 100 percent healthy.
