Ryan Smyth suffered a concussion and a slight shoulder separation during battle with the Kings on Saturday but Colorado thinks he may be able to return before the end of the the season, according to the Denver Post. Smyth notably held his own this season while scoring 33 points over 45 games and his services will be missed while he is on the shelf.

Ryan Smyth has been diagnosed with a concussion and minor shoulder separation, according to the Denver Post. Smyth won't be allowed to exercise until the concussion symptoms. The Avs are only saying he's out indefinitely, but it seems possible that he won't play again this year.

Ryan Smyth passed CT scans on his head, but he may have a serious shoulder injury. Sources informed the Denver Post that Smyth may have suffered a separated left shoulder. His season could be over. Smyth missed six weeks earlier in the season due to a fractured right ankle, and in between the two injuries, he did a decent job for fantasy teams. The Avs will miss him and may need to lean more heavily on Jaroslav Hllinka and Wojtek Wolski.

Ryan Smyth will be sidelined indefinitely due to an undisclosed injury suffered in Saturday's game, according to the Canadian Press. Smyth could have suffered a concussion when he was checked into the boards. Smyth will undergo further examination by the medical staff over the next few days. We don't want to speculate too much, but it certainly seems possible we won't see Smyth again this year.

Ryan Smyth scored two second-period goals on Saturday night, but was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being checked into the boards, this according to the LA Times. The Colorado forward was motionless on the ice for several minutes as trainers rushed to attend to him, notes the report. Colorado officials reported that he was conscious and walking but was sent to the hospital for further examination. Smyth's goals, his 13th and 14th of the season, helped the Avalanche take a 5-2 win over the Kings.

Ryan Smyth will play tonight against the Blues after missing 18 games with a broken right ankle, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "I'm finally getting in and it's very exciting," Smyth said. "Six weeks is a long time, I guess, in the hockey world. But when you have anything broken at any point in your life, six weeks isn't that long. I'm fortunate that it recovered well and I'm really eager to get my feet wet right away." Smyth, who had 11 goals and 28 points in 36 games prior to suffering the injury, is likely to play on a line with red-hot rookie T.J. Hensick and veteran sniper Milan Hejduk.

Ryan Smyth returned to practice on Monday from a broken foot that has caused him to miss Colorado's last 26 games according to the AP. Smyth was able to skate at practice and even absorb a little physical contact. He is a bit ahead of schedule at this point and could see action in the next week to 10 days.

Smyth has been progressing quite well in his rehab and figures to be a good bet to return prior to the team's original assessment of a return on March 1st. Coach Joel Quenneville said Ryan Smyth should resume skating this weekend and could return earlier than the original Mar. 1 prognosis, according to the Denver Post. Smyth has been out since Dec. 31 with the injury.
