Under new Blackhawks coach Denis Savard, Nikolai Khabibulin is expected to see more time between the pipes at the expense of backup goaltender Brian Boucher, according to the Sun-Times. "Nik's a world-class goaltender and a guy who cares," Savard said. "He deserves to play every game, and we believe he can do that."

"Bouch has played well for us and deserved to play another game," coach Trent Yawney said, "and this will give Nik another day of practice." Khabibulin has missed the past eight games with a broken finger and could be in goal Friday.

Nikolai Khabibulin broke a finger on his right hand during warmups on Saturday night, according to the Chicago Tribune. He's a hockey player, so he was in goal for that night's entire game, but he now likely will be sidelined at least the next 10 days.
