According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Penguins' defenseman Sergei Gonchar has said that he would be interested in working out a long-term deal with the team even though he still has one year left on his current deal. "I would like to be here. We have a great group of guys. It's a great season. Everybody's supporting us. Obviously, there has to be interest from both sides, and we'll see what happens."

The Associated Press is reporting that Penguins' defenseman Sergei Gonchar played the final two rounds of the playoffs with a partially torn MCL. He was expected to miss six weeks, but returned in one.

Sergei Gonchar's ailing right calf has improved, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said, "I am slowly making progress. It is not going to go away overnight. I am getting better and better with every game."
