Petr Sykora will not play in the team's season opener tonight and will likely miss tomorrow's game, as well, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Sykora returned to practice earlier this week after missing five days because of a respiratory illness, but he is now out with a groin ailment.

Petr Sykora, who looked doubtful after Monday's game because of a sore back, was in the lineup on Wednesday night for the Pens, this according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It's a good thing that the trust is there," Therrien said. "The most important thing is we're not forcing our players to play. We have to make sure when they come back, they're going to be 100 percent." The Pens are shorthanded due to injuries and suspensions, and having Sykora and his 54 points in the lineup is key.
