Todd Bertuzzi will get a shot to skate with the first line in training camp according to TSN. Coach Mike Keenan, who coached Bertuzzi when the two were with the Vancouver Canucks in the late 1990s, said he's excited to see what the six-foot-three, 226-pound forward can accomplish this season. "He's more experienced than when I coached him," Keenan said. "He's in a good space mentally. He's positive about himself and about his opportunity here he views this I'm sure as a good new start."

Todd Bertuzzi will not where either number four or 44 this season since they are already taken, instead he will wear number seven for the Flames in an homage to Phil Esposito, his boyhood idol, according to the Calgary Herald.

New Calgary Flames forward Todd Bertuzzi is asking the team's fans to give him a chance to perform for the team, according to the Canadian Press. "Obviously I'm well aware I wasn't the most popular pickup in Calgary Flames history, but at the same time I think you've got to give it a little time and give me a chance," Bertuzzi said.

Former Canucks head coach Marc Crawford defended himself in court documents, saying he had no control over Todd Bertuzzi when he attacked Steve Moore, seriously injuring him, in a game in 2004. Bertuzzi filed a claim saying Crawford should pay part of any damages received by Moore, who is suing Bertuzzi, according to the Toronto Star. In the statement, Crawford said in part that the attack "was not done under any specific or general direction or encouragement from Crawford, was a direct disobedience of the instruction that Bertuzzi had been given from the bench to get off the ice, and was a violation of Bertuzzi's duties."

Jarome Iginla stated that he would like to play on a line with newly acquired Todd Bertuzzi next season, according to the Calgary Herald. Iginla said, "I'm not sure what coach Mike Keenan has in store, but, yeah, I'd love the chance to play with Bertuzzi. I'm excited. Sometimes, you play with different players and you can't explain why, but the chemistry, it's not there. And with some, you just feel, 'If we had some time together, if we could just work together."

Former Anaheim forward Todd Bertuzzi has signed a one-year deal to play for the Flames, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed. Flames' GM Darryl Sutter said, "Todd is a proven scorer with the ability to play both wings. He expressed to us that he wanted to play in Canada and that desire along with signing him to a one-year deal was important to our philosophy. Additionally, our captain, Jarome Iginla, was a strong supporter of Todd and wanted him on our team."

Todd Bertuzzi has been placed on unconditional waivers by the Ducks, according to the AP. The club intends to buy out the last year of his contract. GM Brian Burke said, "Todd Bertuzzi is a quality person who we believe can still play at the NHL level. Unfortunately, we are handcuffed by our salary cap situation. We thank him for his efforts last year and wish him the best of luck in the future."

Todd Bertuzzi racked up 19 PIM on Wednesday night though he failed to record a point for the first time in three games. Though he now has points in three of the last four games, Bertuzzi has failed to produce the offense that the Ducks and his fantasy owners had hoped he would provide given that he has just three points in his last 11 games and only two goals in 19 games.
