Todd Bertuzzi pleaded guilty to assault on Thursday, more than nine months after slugging Colorado's Steve Moore in the head from behind during a game, according to the AP. Bertuzzi, who faced a maximum of 18 months in prison, was given a conditional discharge and one year's probation which prohibits him from playing in any games against Moore. He must also perform 80 hours of community service.

Todd Bertuzzi was charged with assault Thursday for a sucker-punch that broke Steve Moore's neck in March, according to the AP. Bertuzzi was ordered to appear in court July 9. If convicted, he could face a penalty ranging from jail time to a guilty decision with no criminal record.

The NHL has suspended Todd Bertuzzi for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs for attacking Steve Moore Monday. Commissioner Gary Bettman will determine Bertuzzi's status for next season before the start of training camp.

Todd Bertuzzi will have a hearing Wednesday to determine the length of his suspension for attacking Steve Moore on Monday, according to the AP. He could well be suspended for the remainder of the season or longer for jumping Moore, who remains in a hospital with a fractured neck.

Todd Bertuzzi has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL for a cheap shot incident last night involving Avalanche winger Steve Moore. Bertuzzi jumped Moore and forced him to leave the ice on a stretcher.
