Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson has been classified as day-to-day with a groin injury. Alfredsson was injured in Thursdays shootout loss to Pittsburgh, and was unable to take a shot in the shootout. He is not expected to play against the Flyers on Saturday.

Senators Daniel Alfredsson assisted two goals and knocked in an empty net goal, in Ottawas 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. Alfredsson has five goals already this season.

Daniel Alfredsson disputed the popular notion that he intentionally fired a puck at Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer during the closing seconds of the second period of Game 4 on Monday. I looked up at the clock and saw five or six seconds left, so I wanted to shoot the puck at the net, Alfredsson told the AP. I braced my stick and the puck kind of stopped sliding. Then it got caught up in my feet, so I just wanted to get rid of it. I didnt mean to hit him.

Daniel Alfredsson continued his hot streak on Saturday with one goal and four assists in Ottawa's 8-3 win over Montreal. Alfredsson has three goals and nine assists in his last four games.

Daniel Alfredsson was held out of Thursday's practice to rest but he's expected back Friday, the Ottawa Sun reports. Ray Emery also received the day off for the same reason.
