Joe Sakic avoided the strenous workouts of early training camp according to the AP. He supposedly filed for the "old-man rule" which kept him out of some of the rigorous drills his teammates endured.

Joe Sakic will be back for one more season with the Colorado Avalanche after signing a one-year, $6 million deal with the team today, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Ultimately it came down to the fact that I still enjoy playing and competing, Sakic said.
