Chris Chelios will meet with team GM Ken Holland this week, according to the Detroit News.

Chris Chelios has reportedly agreed in principle on a new one-year deal to extend his career another season in Detroit, but GM Ken Holland wants to have one more talk with the future Hall of Famer before he commits to the deal, according to the Detroit News. Holland wants to make sure they are on the same page regarding his role for next season, and stated, "I'm open to bringing Cheli back, but we need to have a real heart-to-heart talk here in the next week, or two, and talk about where we're headed."

Chris Chelios underwent minor arthroscopic knee surgery this week, according to the Detroit News. GM Ken Holland said, "Just had it cleaned out, basically. Nothing out of the ordinary. He'll be ready to train soon."

Chris Chelios isn't considering retirement and will meet with Detroit to work out a one-year deal, according to the Detroit News. He will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this summer, and would be willing to accept a smaller role next season to keep playing. He said, "It's never been a money issue. Hopefully, I'll be at this locker stall again next season."

Chris Chelios is not expected to play in Game 5 against Pittsburgh, according to the Detroit News. The 46-year old defenseman has not played in any of the first four games of the Finals and said, "By no means am I upset. Everybody wants to play. But everything we've done up to this point has been the right thing. Everybody knows I'm there for them. We talk about our depth. Hopefully, we won't need me, we can finish this off tonight."

Chris Chelios is not likely to play in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals against Pittsburgh, according to the Detroit News. The aging enforcer is nursing a knee injury and Coach Mike Babcock said, "All we're doing today is, we won the last game and we're not changing the lineup. The bottom line with Cheli is, we have a lot of respect for his ability and what he brings to this team. But this isn't about Cheli, it's not about me, it's about the Detroit Red Wings and winning."

Chris Chelios skated on Wednesday morning but is still having problems with his right leg. He chipped his fibula on February 22. Is it improving? "Not at all, to be honest with you,” Chelios responses to the Detroit Free Press. “The key is, it’s not worse than it was. I skated hard today and we’ll see how it feels later today and tomorrow, but I’m being optimistic here that it’s on its way to getting better. I’m not close.”
