Ed Belfour is taking his act overseas this season. ESPN.com reported on Monday that the 42 year-old netminder signed a contract with a team in Sweden, He spent last season with the Panthers.

Swedish newspaper Sport-Expressen is reporting that Ed Belfour is close to signing with a Swedish Elite League team for the upcoming season, according to the Miami Herald. The Panthers brought in Tomas Vokoun to start this season, which would leave Craig Anderson as the backup if Belfour bolts to Scandanivia. He should have an out clause in his contract that would allow him to sign with an NHL team next season, should a good opportunity arise.

Ed Belfour and teammate Ville Peltonen were arrested at a popular South Beach bar early Monday after a scuffle with a police officer, the AP reports. Belfour was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence.
