Modano nets game-winner, hits milestone as Stars clip Oilers Dallas. TX (Sports Network) - Mike Modano netted the game-winning goal with
2:21 left in regulation as the Dallas Stars notched a 4-3 victory over the
Edmonton Oilers at American Airlines Center.
Modano also had an assist and with his two-point effort became the 31st player
in NHL history to reach the 1,300-point plateau. Brad Richards set up the
game-winner and finished with two helpers for the Stars, who had lost four of
their last five coming in.
Sean Avery, Toby Petersen and Mike Ribeiro also scored for Dallas. Marty Turco
made 25 saves to get the win.
Stephane Robidas took on a greater role in the Stars offense last year when Sergei Zubov was injured, and he hopes to repeat his solid work in the coming season, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Kings covet a veteran defenseman and contacted Mattias Norstrom about the possibility of returning, but he turned them down, according to the LA Daily News.
