Maple Leafs sign F Hamilton Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Maple Leafs signed right wing Jeff
Hamilton on Thursday.
Hamilton played for Carolina last season and totaled nine goals and 15 assists
in 58 games. He has played for Chicago of the American Hockey Leauge this
season where he posted 16 goals and 37 assists in 50 games.
Over four seasons in the NHL, the 31-year-old has played in 142 games and has
29 goals and 42 assists while also skating for the Islanders and Blackhawks.... More...
Jeff O'Neill has been invited to the Hurricanes' training camp, according to TSN. Team GM Jim Rutherford said, "In training camp, the door is open for players to make the team. That's the opportunity we'll give him. He said he plans to come in early and work out with the guys. He has the right mind-set."
The NHL offseason continues to move along and veteran winger Mats Sundin has yet to make a decision about his future, according to SLAM Sports. Asked about the status of his decision, Coach Ron Wilson, in town for summer meetings with general manager Cliff Fletcher, replied, "When I find out for sure about Mats Sundin, then I'll worry about life with or without him."
Mats Sundin still hasn't officially decided whether or not to continue his career, but one overlooked aspect of his game that will be lost if he retires is his ability in the faceoff circle, according to the Boston Globe.
