Steve Trachsel, P, Baltimore OriolesSaturday 11/3, 2:53 PM CT
The Cubs declined their $4.75 million club option on Steve Trachsel Saturday, according to the AP. The hurler was paid a $100,000 buyout. Most teams still view Trachsel a back-of-the-rotation starter. We suppose that's true; he's just not a very good one.
Cliff Floyd, DH, Tampa Bay RaysSaturday 11/3, 2:49 PM CT
The Cubs declined their 2008 option on Cliff Floyd Saturday, according to the AP. Floyd has discussed retirement, although he's also stated he'd like to end his career in Florida, where he had some of his best seasons.
Chris Reitsma, P, Seattle MarinersSaturday 11/3, 2:44 PM CT
The Mariners declined their club option on Chris Reitsma Friday. He posted a 7.61 ERA in 26 relief appearances in 2007. He went on the disabled list three times before undergoing elbow surgery in August.
Jose Guillen, RF, Kansas City RoyalsSaturday 11/3, 2:39 PM CT
The Mariners declined Jose Guillen's $9 million option on Friday. The outfielder still holds a player option, but he's expected to decline it. It's possible the club could still try to re-sign him, but it appears likely he'll sign elsewhere. It's unclear exactly what type of deal Guillen will look for on the open market, but it might be somewhere around $30 million over three years.
