Chris Carter, 1B, Oakland AthleticsMonday 12/3, 12:49 PM CT
The Diamondbacks reportedly acquired Chris Carter from the White Sox in exchange for Carlos Quentin on Monday. Carter, who was regarded as Chicago's best position prospect, hit .291 with a .383 OBP, 25 homers and 93 RBI at Low-A in 2007, and he's expected to start at High-A in 2008.
Carlos Quentin, LF, Chicago White SoxMonday 12/3, 12:29 PM CT
The White Sox are expected to announce today they've acquired Carlos Quentin from Arizona in exchange for first baseman Chris Carter, according to MLB Radio. Quentin hit just .214 in 81 games in 2007 due to injury problems, but he still has good upside and could find regular playing time in Chicago's outfield. He underwent shoulder surgery in October, and it's possible he'll miss the beginning of the season.
Andy Pettitte, P, New York YankeesMonday 12/3, 11:00 AM CT
Andy Pettitte has made a decision on what he will do next season. The veteran pitcher plans to re-sign with the Yankees for one more campaign, according to the Houston Chronicle. Pettitte considered retirement, but it appears he'll re-up with the Yanks for $16 million, the same amount he could have made had he not declined his contract option last month.
