Mike Rabelo, C, Florida MarlinsTuesday 12/4, 5:45 PM CT
Mike Rabelo was traded to the Marlins Tuesday as a part of the Miguel Cabrera/Dontrelle Willis trade. Rabelo, who hit .256 in 168 at-bats in 2007, will could battle Miguel Olivo for playing time in the spring.
Andrew Miller, P, Florida MarlinsTuesday 12/4, 5:41 PM CT
Andrew Miller was shipped to Florida Tuesday as a part of the Miguel Cabrera/Dontrelle Willis trade. Miller posted a 5.63 ERA in 13 starts with Detroit this past year, but he should enjoy a move to the National League. He should begin the season as a part of Florida's rotation.
Cameron Maybin, OF, Florida MarlinsTuesday 12/4, 5:39 PM CT
Cameron Maybin was sent to Florida Tuesday along with Andrew Miller in a trade that netted the Tigers Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. Maybin, who struggled in his brief big-league stint in 2007, hitting just .143 in 49 at-bats, could open the 2008 season as the Marlins' starting center fielder, although he could also benefit from some more time in the minors.
Dontrelle Willis, P, Detroit TigersTuesday 12/4, 5:37 PM CT
Dontrelle Willis was sent to the Tigers Tuesday along with Miguel Cabrera in exchange for Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller and four other prospects. Willis is coming off a horrid year in which he posted a 5.17 ERA in 35 starts, and moving to the American League surely won't help him rebound in 2008. It's possible he simply had an off year, but it's more likely that all of his accumulated innings have caught up with him.
Miguel Cabrera, 1B, Detroit TigersTuesday 12/4, 5:33 PM CT
ESPN is reporting the Tigers have reached a preliminary agreement with the Marlins on a monster deal, acquiring Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis in exchange for Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, Mike Rabelo and three other prospects. Cabrera, who hit .320 with 34 homers and 119 RBI in 2007, will add a big bat to an already potent Tigers lineup.
Akinori Iwamura, 2B, Tampa Bay RaysTuesday 12/4, 2:44 PM CT
The Rays plan to move Akinori Iwamura to second base in 2008, whether or not Evan Longoria proves he's ready to be the team's starting third baseman, according to the AP. "He knows he is moving to second base," Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon said Tuesday. "I'm not sure we told him that he would not be moving back even if Evan is not ready. If Evan's not, we will mix-and-match at third base until Evan is ready. But we are not sure who that will be." Iwamura played just one game at second base in 2007, but the team doesn't expect him to have any trouble with the transition.
Eric Gagne, P, Milwaukee BrewersTuesday 12/4, 11:47 AM CT
The Rangers are interested in bringing Eric Gagne back to Texas to serve as their closer next year, according to the Dallas Morning News. "Eric is high on the list, and we have expressed interest," general manager Jon Daniels acknowledged Monday during the first day of the Winter Meetings. The two parties have yet to have substantive talks, but that's expected to happen soon.
Mike Timlin, P, Boston Red SoxTuesday 12/4, 11:43 AM CT

Andruw Jones, CF, Los Angeles DodgersTuesday 12/4, 11:42 AM CT
The Dodgers are interested in both Andruw Jones and Aaron Rowand, but right now GM Ned Coletti feels that the two outfielders' respective agents are asking for too much. Coletti would like to offer Jones a two- to three-year deal, but Jones is believed to be looking for a contract worth more than the five-year, $90 million deal Torii Hunter signed with the Angels. The GM said the representatives of the two free-agent center fielders would have to contact him to resume negotiations. "I don't see how we explore it from here," Colletti told the LA Times.
Jose Capellan, P, Colorado RockiesTuesday 12/4, 11:37 AM CT
The Tigers have completed a deal with the Rockies that will send Jose Capellan to Colorado in exchange for Denny Bautista, according to the Detroit Free Press. Capellan, who posted a 5.54 ERA in 17 games with the Tigers and Brewers in 2007, will work in a middle relief role for the Rockies.

The Tigers have completed a trade with the Rockies that will send Jose Capellan to Colorado in exchange for Denny Bautista, according to the Detroit Free Press. Bautista will work in middle relief for Detroit.
Mark Loretta, 2B, Houston AstrosTuesday 12/4, 11:32 AM CT
Mark Loretta is an option to fill the Rockies' void at second base. Loretta hit .287 with four homers and 41 RBI in 460 at-bats with Houston in '07. The Astros offered him arbitration on Sunday and he has until Friday to accept. "Mark would take less money to play for the Rockies than what he would make in arbitration from the Astros," Loretta's agent, Bob Garber said in the Denver Post. "We would love to hear back from the Rockies."
Brian Anderson, CF, Chicago White SoxTuesday 12/4, 11:29 AM CT
Despite the acquisition of Carlos Quentin, GM Kenny Williams insists he hasn't soured on Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney, according to the Chicago Tribune. That said, he did mention he wouldn't hesitate to include one of them in a deal. Regardless of Williams' comments, the organization has clearly soured on Anderson, and he's a longshot to ever be anything more than a role player with the big-league club.
Alex Rios, RF, Toronto Blue JaysTuesday 12/4, 11:19 AM CT
The Indians talked to the Blue Jays about Alex Rios Monday, but the two sides couldn't find a match, according to the Toronto Sun. There would be many teams interested in Rios should he really become available, but the Jays would likely demand at least two high-end prospects in return.
Jonathan Albaladejo, P, New York YankeesTuesday 12/4, 11:14 AM CT
The Yankees acquired reliever Jonathan Albaladejo from the Nationals Tuesday in exchange for Tyler Clippard. Albaladejo held a 1.88 ERA in 14 1/3 innings for the Nats in '07. He should compete for a bullpen job with the Yankees.
Tyler Clippard, P, Washington NationalsTuesday 12/4, 11:12 AM CT
The Nationals acquired Tyler Clippard from the Yankees Tuesday in exchange for reliever Jonathan Albaladejo. The 22-year-old Clippard held a 6.33 ERA in six starts for the Yanks in '07. He'll likely compete for a spot in the Nats rotation this spring.
Brian Roberts, 2B, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/4, 10:58 AM CT
The Cubs have expressed in interest in Brian Roberts but talks haven't progressed very far, according to the Baltimore Sun. It's unlikely a deal will get done here, but the Cubs are obviously looking to shore up their middle infield that includes Mark DeRosa and Ryan Theriot.
Miguel Tejada, SS, Houston AstrosTuesday 12/4, 10:54 AM CT
The Orioles met with the Cardinals Monday to discuss a possible Miguel Tejada trade, according to the Baltimore Sun. However, the Cards are unwilling to part with outfield prospect Colby Rasmus, which may be a sticking point. That said, if the Cardinals deal Scott Rolen, it's expected they would step up their efforts to acquire Tejada to play third base. The Giants, Astros and Angels are also kicking tires on the slugger.
Erik Bedard, P, Seattle MarinersTuesday 12/4, 10:51 AM CT
The Mets are making a play for the Orioles' Erik Bedard. They have reportedly offered Baltimore Carlos Gomez, Aaron Heilman and Philip Humber, which was shot down, according to the Baltimore Sun. The two sides are expected to meet again today. In addition to the Mets, the Mariners and Dodgers have also expressed heavy interest in the lefty.
Jose Ascanio, P, Chicago CubsTuesday 12/4, 10:49 AM CT
The Cubs acquired Jose Ascanio from the Braves Tuesday in exchange for utilityman Omar Infante and reliever Will Ohman. Ascanio held a 5.06 ERA over 16 innings with the Braves in '07. He should compete for a bullpen spot with the Cubbies.
Will Ohman, P, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/4, 10:47 AM CT
The Braves acquired Will Ohman and Omar Infante from the Cubs Tuesday in exchange for reliever Jose Ascanio. Ohman is coming off a terrible year, but he was good in '05 and '06 and could rebound next season.
Omar Infante, 2B, Atlanta BravesTuesday 12/4, 10:42 AM CT
Omar Infante is on the move again. The Cubs dealt Infante and reliever Will Ohman to the Braves Tuesday in exchange for reliever Jose Ascanio. Chicago had just acquired Infante last month in a trade with Detroit. As it stands right now, Infante could compete for playing time in center field for Atlanta.
Guillermo Quiroz, C, Baltimore OriolesTuesday 12/4, 10:36 AM CT
