Angel Pagan, LF, New York MetsSunday 1/6, 5:04 PM CT
The Cubs traded Angel Pagan to the Mets Saturday in exchange for two minor leaguers, outfielder Corey Coles and righty Ryan Meyers. Pagan batted .264 with four home runs and 21 RBI for Chicago last year. He'll back up at all three outfield positions in New York.
Ian Kennedy, P, New York YankeesSunday 1/6, 10:59 AM CT
Ian Kennedy and Mike Mussina will head to spring training in competition for the final spot in the Yankees rotation, according to the New York Daily News. Kennedy certainly seems like the upside play here, but a lot can change between now and then - teammates could get hurt, the Yanks could get a deal done for Johan Santana, etc.
Mike Mussina, P, New York YankeesSunday 1/6, 10:57 AM CT
Mike Mussina and Ian Kennedy will enter spring training battling for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, according to the New York Daily News. Mussina didn't make much of a case last year, posting a 5.15 ERA over 152 innings.
Ben Broussard, 1B, New York YankeesSunday 1/6, 10:11 AM CT
Ben Broussard avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract with the Rangers. He'll earn $3.85 million during the upcoming season, according to the Dallas Morning News. The Rangers acquired him from the Mariners last month to help them out at first base and right field.
