Team officials met with Santana's agent, Peter Greenberg, in Manhattan for the third straight day as the sides tried to negotiate a deal for the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner. The News quoted a baseball executive, who said, on condition of anonymity, "Usually, nothing gets done until the very end, like any negotiation." While all signs point to them working out the fine print and agreeing to terms, nothing is ever certain about a contract until both sides actually sign the deal. On the other hand, it would be a total PR disaster if the Mets fail to land the big fish called Santana. Once a deal is agreed to, all players in the trade will have to pass physicals before the trade can be completed. |

Fogg confirmed the Twins have expressed interest, but said there has been no offer yet. That could happen as soon as today if Santana completes negotiations with the Mets on a contract extension. Fogg was 10-9 with a 4.94 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP last season for the NL champion Rockies and would be merely rotation filler in Minnesota. |

Blake filed for $6.9 million, while the Indians countered at $5.4 million. He hit .270 with 36 doubles, four triples, 18 homers and 78 RBI last season, and his 26-game hitting streak was the longest in the American League. |
