It appears to be unlikely that Alex Rodriguez will be able to return from the DL when he eligible next Thursday, according to the NY Daily News. Rodriguez said he felt no pain in his strained right quadriceps after a full pregame workout on Wednesday, and added that he couldn't wait to get back in the lineup. But it was determined that Rodriguez will need another MRI to be cleared to begin rehab games in Tampa. The team wants to see that the tearing in the muscle has healed enough for him to go all-out in a rehab assignment. He further injured it trying to come back too quickly last month. Manager Joe Girardi said, "It's less likely that he'd be back when he's eligible. There's nothing that's happened, but they want to make sure on the MRI that it's healed enough for him to take the next step. It's always a little bit different when the intensity has to be turned up, when you have to make the quick break and everything isn't calculated. But it is a good sign what he did today."
