Marquis Daniels, G, Indiana PacersThursday 10/4, 12:10 PM CT
As he works his way back from a knee injury, Marquis Daniels also is preparing to play some point guard for the first time since he came to Indiana from Dallas, the Indianapolis Star reported. Jamaal Tinsley is still the starter at the position and Daniels is expected to play most of his time at shooting guard, but Jim O’Brien’s uptempo offense fits Daniels’ style and will allow him to back up Tinsley now that Darrell Armstrong and Keith McLeod are gone.
Shannon Brown, G, Charlotte BobcatsThursday 10/4, 11:00 AM CT
Cavs guard Shannon Brown is accused of hitting a security guard in the face during an incident at a Cleveland nightclub early Sunday morning, the Akron Beacon-Journal reported. No charges have been filed in the case.
Joakim Noah, F, Chicago BullsThursday 10/4, 10:51 AM CT
Rookie forward Joakim Noah will be rehabilitating the partially torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder all season. “I don’t think it will be 100 percent all year,” Noah told the Chicago Sun Times. “It’s just a question of repetition and doing rehab. I’m happy I didn’t have to get surgery.”
Tyrus Thomas, F, Chicago BullsThursday 10/4, 10:47 AM CT
Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas allegedly took hundreds of shots per day this summer preparing for training camp, but coach Scott Skiles doubts he put in the work after seeing him in practice thus far. ''It would be nice if he can make perimeter shots, but he's got to be able to sustain effort first through a quarter, a game or even a practice, for that matter,” Skiles told the Chicago Sun-Times. ''He's in better shape than he was in camp at this point last year. He had a better summer than he had leading up to his rookie year, but not at the level of the other guys. He's still learning what it takes to be a great player.''
Darrell Armstrong, G, New Jersey NetsThursday 10/4, 9:49 AM CT
Recently waived by the Indiana Pacers, 39-year old Darrell Armstrong agreed to a partially guaranteed, $1.2 million deal to join the Nets. The Newark Star-Ledger reported that Armstrong considered the Mavericks as well, but chose New Jersey because he would get a chance to play with backup point guard Marcus Williams shelved until at least mid-November with a broken metatarsal in his right foot.
Nenad Krstic, C, Thursday 10/4, 9:43 AM CT
Nets center Nenad Krstic is still about nine days away from being cleared for contract drills as he continues to recover from January ACL surgery. Krstic told the New York Post that he’s not sure if he’ll play in any preseason games. However, he still believes he’ll be ready for the season opener.
Scot Pollard, C, Boston CelticsThursday 10/4, 9:30 AM CT
Celtics center Scot Pollard has yet to practice in training camp due to a left ankle sprain suffered several weeks ago. He told the Boston Globe he isn’t sure when he will participate in camp.
Brandon Roy, G, Portland TrailblazersThursday 10/4, 9:07 AM CT
Portland coach Nate McMillan may hold Brandon Roy out of all eight preseason games in attempt to keep him healthy for the season opener. The AP reported that Roy hurt his left heel during the team’s first practice on Tuesday – the same heel that kept Roy out of 20 games last season. An MRI showed no major problems and Roy plans to return to practice on Friday and is taking anti-inflammatory medicine.
Stacey Augmon, F, Denver NuggetsThursday 10/4, 8:56 AM CT
The Nuggets signed 15-year veteran Stacey Augmon on Wednesday, the AP reported. Plastic Man last played for Orlando during the 2005-06 season.
