Antoine Walker, F, Memphis GrizzliesWednesday 10/10, 10:37 PM CT
Miami Heat coach Pat Riley predicted on Monday that it would take forward Antoine Walker until January to meet his team-mandated weight and body fat level. Walker was suspended for the team’s opening day practice this season because of his conditioning level, and suspended briefly last season for the same thing. "He's a hard worker. He works every day," Riley said. "He comes to practice every day. Doesn't miss any practices. He's never missed any games. ... He doesn't miss anything. The question is that I'm trying to get him in optimum condition." Walker needs to get down to 235 pounds and 7 percent body fat to reach optimum playing condition, he currently weighs 262 pounds with 15 percent body fat.

The Knicks already have 15 players under contract, but Thomas said if Houston looks like the player he was before an arthritic left knee prematurely ended his career, he would make room for him.

Gordan Giricek, G, Phoenix SunsWednesday 10/10, 9:27 AM CT
It remains a mystery in Utah as to who will start this season at shooting guard. “We’re trying to find a guard that’s a making guard,” coach Jerry Sloan told the Salt Lake Tribune. “Anybody can shoot it. We’re just trying to get somebody that’s going to make ‘em at that position.” Gordan Giricek is the odds on favorite to win the job, but Ronnie Brewer, C.J. Miles and Morris Almond are all in the mix.
