Amare Stoudemire, F, Phoenix SunsSunday 10/14, 7:36 AM CT
Amare Stoudemire was able to do some work on the court Friday, doing agility exercises and taking shots. "I did a lot more stuff today, a little physical," Stoudemire said, according to the Arizona Republic. "I feel fantastic. I want to still take my time with it. The training staff is doing a great job to make sure I maintain my strength. That's what counts." The workout came just 10 days after his arthroscopic knee surgery. So far, so good. He appears to be on track for the start of the season, though obviously he won't be drafted without some risk involved.
Randy Foye, G, Minnesota TimberwolvesSunday 10/14, 7:19 AM CT
Randy Foye and Sebastian Telfair are supposed to be competing for minutes at the point with the T-Wolves, but both are dinged up right now. Neither practiced Saturday, as Foye is dealing with some minor tendinitis in his knee and Telfair was on crutches after spraining his ankle before the session even started, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. That left the team with Marko Jaric, who should be an afterthought this season, at the point. Foye will get plenty of playing time, regardless of whether he's at the one or two. So the preseason is more important to Telfair, who needs to prove he's capable of running the point after coming over from Boston in the Kevin Garnett trade.
Monta Ellis, G, Golden State WarriorsSunday 10/14, 7:10 AM CT
The scary neck injury Monta Ellis sustained recently will keep him sidelined a while longer. He didn't practice Saturday and won't take part in the Warriors' exhibition games Sunday or Monday, according to the Contra Costa Times. Considering there was initial concern of paralysis, that Ellis came away from the tumble with only a sprained neck, things look great for him. It's not clear exactly when he'll be ready for game action again, but it appears safe to draft him without concern.
Samuel Dalembert, C, Philadelphia 76ersSunday 10/14, 6:51 AM CT
Samuel Dalembert began feeling pain in his left foot on Thursday. As a result, he hasn't practiced since and won't play in Sunday's exhibition game, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We will let him rest it, and as the preseason winds down, then maybe put him on the court," coach Mo Cheeks said. "I don't think we need to rush him on the court." Dalembert is dealing with a stress fracture in his foot, so obviously the Sixers will take things slowly with his return. It's entirely possible that the injury could continue to be an issue as the season gets underway.
Shaquille O'Neal, C, Phoenix SunsSunday 10/14, 6:41 AM CT
Shaquille O'Neal was forced to leave Saturday's preseason game after colliding with Emeka Okafor. He was noticeably limping and was diagnosed with a bruised quadriceps, according to the Miami Herald. Shaq said he didn't think the injury was serious. On the other hand, at this stage of his career, his health will remain a constant concern.
