Ray Allen, G, Boston CelticsThursday 1/10, 10:55 AM CT
As expected, Celtics guard Ray Allen sat out Wednesday’s game against Charlotte due to a pinched nerve in his neck. But the injury isn’t serious. “Clearly if it was a playoff game he’d be playing,” coach Doc Rivers told the AP. “He felt great today.”
Anderson Varejao, F, Cleveland CavaliersThursday 1/10, 10:41 AM CT
Cavs forward Anderson Varejao left Wednesday’s game against Atlanta in the fourth quarter with a bruised left knee and sprained left Achilles, but escaped what could have been more serious injuries after getting tangled up with Al Horford. The Akron Beacon-Journal reported that Varejao went through a battery of tests on his knee, which turned out to be fine save for a bruise. His Achilles is cause for more concern and he will have an MRI done on Thursday. But Varejao left the arena without the aid of crutches and is listed as day-to-day.

Clippers guard Shaun Livingston, who tore parts of his anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and lateral meniscus in a game against Charlotte last February, received good news from doctors on Wednesday. "The medical team feels he's going to make a full recovery," team president Andy Roeser told the AP. "There's a pretty good chance he’ll be on the court before the end of the season.” Livingston will spend the next month or so building strength in his knee and will be re-evaluated in February.

Raptors guard T.J. Ford was cleared to resume workouts on Wednesday after seeing a spine specialist in Cleveland, the AP reported. When exactly Ford would begin working out again is up in the air, and there is also no timetable for his return to the Raptors. He will return to Houston and work out with former NBA player John Lucas. The two worked out together when Ford was injured in 2004.
