Gilbert Arenas, G, Washington WizardsSaturday 2/16, 11:29 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas is not one of the invitees for the U.S. men's Olympic basketball team this summer, according to the Washington Post. Jerry Colangelo said USA Basketball will invite 18 players to Las Vegas for a short training camp June 27-30 to determine which 12 players will represent the country in Beijing. "He's not part of the mix," Colangelo said of Arenas."...we don't see him as one of the 18."
Ron Artest, F, Sacramento KingsSaturday 2/16, 11:06 PM CT
Ron Artest told ESPN.com on Saturday that he won't lobby to be traded before Thursday's deadline. "I am anxious to see what my future holds, [but] I like Sac," Artest wrote in an e-mail. "My entire focus is with Sac and winning a championship this year." Artest had been vocal about leaving the Kings for a playoff contender. Artest has the ability to terminate his contract at the end of the season and become a free agent in July.
Mike Bibby, G, Atlanta HawksSaturday 2/16, 1:58 PM CT
The Sacramento Bee is reporting that the Kings and Hawks have agreed in principle to a deal that will send Mike Bibby to Atlanta. The King will receive guards Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue and forwards Sheldon Williams and Lorenzen Wright. Bibby should take on much more of a traditional point guard role with the Hawks, who have Joe Johnson at the off guard spot. Johnson may now need to share more of the scoring load. Back in Sacramento, Beno Udrih should move back into the starting lineup, where he averaged roughly 14 points, five assists, four boards, a three, and a steal per night.
Kevin Garnett, F, Boston CelticsSaturday 2/16, 12:01 PM CT
Kevin Garnett tells the Boston Globe that he is aiming to return to action against the Nuggets on Tuesday. He has been out since January 25 due to a strained abdominal muscle. We won't be certain about his status until after practices on Monday, which means fantasy owners will be gambling if they use him in the week ahead.
Carmelo Anthony, F, Denver NuggetsSaturday 2/16, 9:42 AM CT
Carmelo Anthony would like the Nuggets make a deal for Kings forward Ron Artest. "I really believe that, if we get Ron Artest, that will make our team a lot more powerful, a lot more stronger, a lot deeper than we are right now," Anthony tells the Rocky Mountain News. "Ron Artest, you can't go wrong with him."
Devean George, F, Dallas MavericksSaturday 2/16, 9:33 AM CT
Devean George reiterated his feelings on Friday that he's not willing to be traded to New Jersey, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. "He has the right not to do the deal," agent Mark Bartelstein said. "I find it incomprehensible that people can be upset with him. I don't know anyone who would [want to] be the sacrificial lamb. He has a career to protect."
