The trade will not become official until at least Monday as the league will have to review it since Van Horn is unofficially retired and the Mavericks would have to release a player as well. The East Valley Tribune reports that nothing has been announced from the NBA office by commissioner Stern preventing Dallas’ Jerry Stackhouse from being included in any upcoming deal. Stackhouse was part of a proposed trade that would have sent Jason Kidd back to the Mavs via the Nets. That trade was blocked by guard Devean George. But word got out that Stackhouse was possibly offered a contract buyout from the Nets, giving him the chance to return to the Mavs, a major league violation. “There can’t be a deal in advance,’’ Stern said. “But he certainly is allowed to go back to his previous team. The big issue is whether or not there’s an agreement. Speculation doesn’t make it an agreement.’’ “Honestly, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Mavs owner Mark Cuban said.

The Kings are holding out for third-year small forward Linas Kleiza and likely requiring forward Eduardo Najera and his expiring contract in exchange for the $7 Million dollar July free agent, Artest. The Kings veteran (Artest) recently backed off his trade demand.
