Caron Butler, F, Washington WizardsMonday 2/18, 10:30 PM CT
Caron Butler practiced at full speed on Monday and appears to be a good bet to suit up on Tuesday night, this according to a report in the Washington Post. Butler has been missed as one might imagine when 21.4 points a game are on the bench. It looks like you can start him for Tuesday night, though you might want to temper your enthusiasm a bit until it is clear that he is healthy.
Mike Bibby, G, Atlanta HawksMonday 2/18, 10:25 PM CT
Mike Bibby met his new teammates on Monday according to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Bibby was only able to partake in half the practice since the deal wasn't official at the start of things, but that doesn't mean that there wasn't plenty of optimism to go around. "It's a new ball game," Josh Smith said. "We're in a unique position right now, with a chance to sort of reinvent ourselves on the fly here, and guys have to be ready to take advantage of it." Bibby will give the team the point guard that it has lacked and the team hopes that he can spearhead a run to the playoffs.
Jason Kidd, G, Dallas MavericksMonday 2/18, 9:11 PM CT
Jason Kidd's trade to the Mavericks appears to be on its way to completion as Keith Van Horn has agreed to sign a $4 million to play for the Nets, at least for 30 days, this according to a report in The Star Ledger. In a separate move, Nets will trade Antoine Wright to Dallas in exchange for $1.6 million to open up a roster spot for Van Horn. All of that make sense? The bottom line is that team's have found a way to make this deal work, so look for an official announcement to come on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.
Chris Richard, F, Minnesota TimberwolvesMonday 2/18, 8:57 PM CT
Chris Richard was recalled from the D league on Monday according to a report on NBA.com. The first year center spent six games with Skyforce averaging 10.2 points and 11.5 rebounds while he led the team in rebounding in three of six games. Richard is Mr. Irrelevant from a fantasy perspective, though his game certainly has upside that bears watching moving forward.
Jeremy Richardson, F, Orlando MagicMonday 2/18, 8:52 PM CT
Jeremy Richardson signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks on Monday according to a report on NBA.com. Richardson has played in eight NBA games this season while he has participated in 12 games at Fort Wayne of the developmental league where he averaged 25.4 ppg, 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals. Richardson was only signed because the team was down bodies after the move for Mike Bibby, so continue to ignore Jeremy in fantasy circles.
Etan Thomas, F, Washington WizardsMonday 2/18, 7:09 PM CT
Etan Thomas, who had heart surgery in October, was cleared to begin practicing according to the AP. No timetable for his return to game action has been established. Thomas shouldn't be counted on for any type of substantial production this year, but the good news is that he appears to be well on his way to resuming his NBA career.
Gilbert Arenas, G, Washington WizardsMonday 2/18, 7:01 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas was cleared to return to some light practice as he continues his rehab from knee surgery according to a report by the AP. Arenas said he hopes to return in the coming weeks, but until he progresses to the point that he can at least partake in full-contact practices, there is no need to become overly excited about an immanent return.
Jason Kidd, G, Dallas MavericksMonday 2/18, 5:57 PM CT
Jason Kidd and his impending move to Dallas still may not happen as the league is reviewing the details of the trade, particularly the inclusion of Keith Van Horn in the deal according to ESPN. "It's possible that [Van Horn] may be an issue," Nets president Rod Thorn said. It sounds like Van Horn will have to take, and pass, a physical for the trade to happen, a concern since he hasn't played since the 2006 Finals. It also appears that he must make himself available to actually play as the NBA doesn't want this type of trade to become common place where a player is moved in name only just to make the dollar amounts even out.
Jason Kidd, G, Dallas MavericksMonday 2/18, 1:47 PM CT
The Star Ledger reported Monday afternoon that nothing is going to happen concerning the Jason Kidd to Dallas deal today. With weather creating havoc in the Midwest and on the East Coast, the league hasn't had a chance to research the fine print of the agreement. One thing the paper is adamant about, referencing Internet reports on Monday: Antoine Wright is definitely involved in the deal.
Kevin Garnett, F, Boston CelticsMonday 2/18, 11:23 AM CT
Kevin Garnett told the Boston Globe that he hopes to play Tuesday at Denver and feels comfortable he will be available. However, he added that he will know more after Monday's practice and even if he does play, it will be on a limited basis initially. Owners who have other options, should leave him out of the starting lineup for one more week.
Carmelo Anthony, F, Denver NuggetsMonday 2/18, 9:27 AM CT
Carmelo Anthony scored 18 points in the Western Conference's 134-128 loss to the East on Sunday night. Allen Iverson, his veteran teammate, scored seven points with six assists and six turnovers.
Devin Harris, G, New Jersey NetsMonday 2/18, 9:00 AM CT
Losing Steve Nash in 2004; then trading for Devin Harris and Jerry Stackhouse in a package for All-Star Antawn Jamison doesn't look so good in hindsight according to the Star-Telegram. The recent agreement in principal for Jason Kidd essentially means the team has given up on Harris -- and for a point guard that is 35, a year older than Nash. The Star described the newest trade between the Nets and Mavs on Monday morning. "This isn't back to square one; it's back to minus-1."
Jason Kidd, G, Dallas MavericksMonday 2/18, 8:52 AM CT
The Star-Telegram reports that Jason Kidd's return to the Mavericks is being sealed. The New Jersey Nets reached a new agreement in principle Sunday evening, according to paper. The Mavs will give up Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop and Maurice Ager, with Trenton Hassell and the semi-retired Keith Van Horn replacing Jerry Stackhouse and Devean George. The Mavs will also throw in $3 million and two first-round draft picks to sweeten the deal. Stay tuned.
Jason Kidd, G, Dallas MavericksMonday 2/18, 8:17 AM CT
The Nets and Mavericks are back at the trade table talking swap. According to ESPN the two teams are close to a deal that would send Jason Kidd to Dallas... again. The teams have reached an agreement in principle and will review the trade details on Monday. In a pre-game All-Star interview, asked whether he expects to be a Net or a Mav on Thursday, Kidd said his gut feeling was "that I would probably be in Dallas." Kidd told reporters after Sunday's game that he will be waiting for an answer about the deal just like everyone else.
