Chris Paul, G, New Orleans HornetsFriday 3/14, 11:38 PM CT
Hoisting the cause of the Hornets against the man likely to get the MVP trophy he deserves, Chris Paul continues to shine and post numbers that serve as the envy of fellow point guards around the NBA, scoring 27 points with 17 assists and four rebounds in the Hornets' 108-98 victory over the LA Lakers this evening. Paul has become a nightly double-double player and is well on his way to becoming a top-three fantasy pick in next year's draft.
Kobe Bryant, G, Los Angeles LakersFriday 3/14, 11:34 PM CT
Kobe Bryant was up to his usual tricks this evening, scoring 36 points with nine rebounds and three assists, yet the Lakers fell short and lost to the New Orleans Hornets, 98-108.
Deron Williams, G, Utah JazzFriday 3/14, 11:26 PM CT
Deron Williams has become the force for the Utah Jazz, a fact evident in his domination of the Boston Celtics today. Williams scored 32 of the 110 the Jazz posted to defeat Boston 110-92. Along with Williams' 32 points, he also poured on eight assists and five rebounds, showing Williams could be as versatile and potent as any guard in the league today.
Joe Johnson, G, Atlanta HawksFriday 3/14, 11:03 PM CT
In what can only be described as the daily norm for the man, SG Joe Johnson has once again enjoyed a tremendous effort in the Hawks' 117-93 victory. Johnson scored 28 points with six rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block on the evening. The fantasy faithful sit unimpressed, for this guy does this nearly every night.
Mike Bibby, G, Atlanta HawksFriday 3/14, 10:58 PM CT
PG Mike Bibby shined in more ways than one for the Hawks in their 117-93 victory over the LA Clippers this evening, scoring 14 points with 14 assists on the evening. Since joining the Hawks, Bibby's talents from three-point range have not shown as hoped, but his ability to pass and set for other hot young shooters is just as beneficial.
Ray Allen, G, Boston CelticsFriday 3/14, 9:12 PM CT
Boston guard Ray Allen left the Celtics’ game against Utah on Friday night with a jammed left ankle and did not return for the final three quarters, according to the Associated Press. The 32-year-old All-Star played the whole first quarter but did not come out for the second. The Celtics announced he had a jammed ankle, and after re-evaluating him at halftime said he would not return. Allen scored nine points, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. He is Boston’s No. 3 scorer, with 18.4 per game.
Eddy Curry, C, New York KnicksFriday 3/14, 8:08 PM CT
Following a report from earlier in the week, New York Knicks center Eddy Curry will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, ending his disappointing season, according to the Associated Press. Curry will have a piece of torn cartilage removed next week, the Knicks said Friday. Recovery time is expected to be four to six weeks. Curry has been one of few bright spots for the Knicks this season and now the hope of a full recovery takes over and spills into next season.
Shawn Marion, F, Miami HeatFriday 3/14, 8:03 PM CT
Forward Shawn Marion was not in Miami's starting lineup for Friday night's game against the Orlando Magic due to back injury, according to ESPN.com. Marion said he aggravated the back problem earlier this week, and played with soreness Wednesday night against the New York Knicks. He still expects to be in the starting lineup Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. Without Marion, the Heat would be down, once again, to eight healthy players. Marion has been one of the NBA's more dependable players, missing just 12 regular-season games in his last seven seasons.
Pau Gasol, F, Los Angeles LakersFriday 3/14, 7:58 PM CT
Lakers center Pau Gasol sprained his left ankle with 9 minutes 27 seconds left in the first quarter tonight against the New Orleans Hornets and will not return to the game, according to the LA Times. Gasol was away from the ball when he was injured, but he appeared to get tangled with Hornets center Tyson Chandler while moving down the lane. X-rays were negative. Gasol was averaging 19.9 points and 8.3 rebounds in 18 games with the Lakers before tonight's contest against the Hornets.
Caron Butler, F, Washington WizardsFriday 3/14, 2:25 PM CT
After returning to action Thursday, Caron Butler practiced Friday and felt "great," according to the Washington Post. So far, so good with his return from a nagging hip injury. Let's hope he's over it for good.
Willie Green, G, Philadelphia 76ersFriday 3/14, 2:20 PM CT
Willie Green is expected to return to game action on Saturday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. He won't be ready to play through his back injury on Friday, though.
Andre Miller, G, Philadelphia 76ersFriday 3/14, 2:17 PM CT
Andre Miller received treatment on his ailing back Thursday and was feeling better, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "My gut is he will play, but we don't want him to go out there to the point of messing himself up," Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We will see how he feels." On top of the back ailment, Miller also has an abdominal strain. It sounds like he'll be a game-time call Friday night.
Dwight Howard, C, Orlando MagicFriday 3/14, 2:11 PM CT
Dwight Howard is expected to play Friday against what's left of the Heat's lineup, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The big fella missed practice Thursday with a bruised right thigh. If only he could hit a free throw, he'd be the best fantasy center out there.
Bruce Bowen, F, San Antonio SpursFriday 3/14, 2:04 PM CT
The NBA has suspended Bruce Bowen one game for kneeing Chris Paul in the face while Paul was on the ground during Wednesday's game. Unless your league counts cheap shots as a stat, Bowen offers little fantasy value.
