Joe Johnson, G, Atlanta HawksSunday 3/16, 9:46 PM CT
Joe Johnson continues to keep fantasy owners happy, posting 28 points with 11 assists and four rebounds in Atlanta's 109-98 win over the New York Knicks. The man is tearing it up after a somewhat disappointing month in February. He's missed the 28-point mark just once (back on the 2nd against Boston) and fell short of the 30-point mark just four times. If Atlanta gets into the playoff picture, it will be because of Joe Johnson.
LeBron James, F, Cleveland CavaliersSunday 3/16, 9:30 PM CT
Once again LeBron James enters a performance that carries the Cavs to a win, putting 33 points with 10 assists, seven rebounds, and two blocks on the board in a 98-91 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. The kid is well on his way to averaging a double-double and has the Cavs in position to battle with the best in the East. Tonight just adds another brick in a growing wall of support for James' MVP campaign.
Shawn Marion, F, Miami HeatSunday 3/16, 5:45 PM CT
Shawn Marion will miss his second straight game this evening, according to AZCentral.com. Marion has been out of the lineup since Friday due to an unspecified back injury and will be a scratch once again tonight as Miami take on Dallas.
Lamar Odom, F, Los Angeles LakersSunday 3/16, 5:20 PM CT
Lamar Odom worked as the voice of statistical support for fantasy owners today, posting a double-double by going 7-of-10 from the field with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Lakers’ 92-104 loss to the Rockets. Odom has enjoyed the addition of Pau Gasol in recent weeks, but today’s performances shows he may be ok with Gasol nursing injury. There is still reason for concern, but Odom seems to have found his role and is making it work.
Luis Scola, F, Houston RocketsSunday 3/16, 5:17 PM CT
Luis Scola may not have scored a ton, but his work on the glass earned him one of his best days yet, scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds to put a double-double on the Lakers in a 104-92 win. Scola has been a bit of a sleeper for fantasy owners this season and his numbers should improve as he gains confidence and more looks. Yao Ming’s absence leaves Tracy McGrady looking for support on the offensive end of the floor while rebounding becomes an issue on the other, and it looks like Scola is ready to pick up the slack on both.
Kobe Bryant, G, Los Angeles LakersSunday 3/16, 5:10 PM CT
Kobe Bryant struggled on the day, going 11-of-33 from the field in the Lakers’ 92-104 loss to the Rockets. Bryant ended with 24 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. The potential MVP of the league is going to have tough days from time to time, and scoring 24 is a good way to come up short for fantasy owners. Look for Bryant to ramp it up as the playoffs approach.
Rafer Alston, G, Houston RocketsSunday 3/16, 5:06 PM CT
PG Rafer Alston hoisted 31 points through the nets today as the Houston Rockets extended their win streak to 21 games, beating the Lakers 104-92. Alston also added five assists, two rebounds, and two steals to one of his the best performances of his career.
Chris Paul, G, New Orleans HornetsSunday 3/16, 4:55 PM CT
In the saga that is the MVP discussion for this NBA season, Chris Paul continues to push for votes, posting his sixth consecutive double-double in the Hornets' 84-105 loss to the Lakers. Paul finished with 14 points, matching with 14 assists. Only three other Hornets managed to post an assist today (each getting one), a strong voice of support for Paul's MVP candidacy (and a growing concern for the Hornets as the playoffs approach).
Chris Duhon, G, New York KnicksSunday 3/16, 4:10 PM CT
Chris Duhon was absent from team practice on Sunday and will not travel with the team to New Orleans, according to the Chicago Tribune. Duhon's absence has been excused and the team has given no indication that his recent struggles to maintain a positive image with the Bulls has anything to do with the decision.
David West, F, New Orleans HornetsSunday 3/16, 1:50 PM CT
David West skipped Sunday's game against the Pistons and could miss a few more contests, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "We're going to have to wait and see, but I would assume right now that he's going to miss tonight and tomorrow, and probably even Wednesday, and we'll reevaluate it after that," coach Byron Scott said. West is dealing with a sprained right ankle, so keep him benched until we hear that he's ready to hit the hardwood again.
Pau Gasol, F, Los Angeles LakersSunday 3/16, 1:43 PM CT
An MRI taken Saturday revealed that Pau Gasol has a moderately sprained ankle, according to the LA Times. "Pau's out for sure for the Houston game (Sunday), most likely out for the rest of the trip, but we don't really want to say that for sure," Lakers spokesman John Black said. "He'll be reevaluated in two or three days. It's not great, but it's not horrible." He likely will miss at least the final three games of their current road trip, but when exactly he's ready for action again will depend on how the joint responds to treatment.
Andrew Bogut, C, Milwaukee BucksSunday 3/16, 1:28 PM CT
Andrew Bogut missed Saturday's game due to a bruised thigh, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. It was the first game missed by Bogut this season, so hopefully he'll be ready to roll on Tuesday.
Chris Bosh, F, Toronto RaptorsSunday 3/16, 1:23 PM CT
Chris Bosh could get back in action Wednesday, according to the Toronto Sun. "You have to have a goal in mind and that's my goal," he said. "That's what I'm shooting for." Bosh has been out all month with a sore right knee, and we'll have to wait for updates before knowing for certain when he'll be ready to ball again.
Gilbert Arenas, G, Washington WizardsSunday 3/16, 1:19 PM CT
Gilbert Arenas is slated to undergo an MRI on his surgically repaired knee Monday or Tuesday, according to the Washington Post. If the results are good, he could play as soon as Wednesday. Don't count on it, because that plan came from Agent Zero's mouth, and he's become notorious for overestimating how healthy he is and how quickly he can return from injuries. Still, he appears to be getting closer.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas, C, Cleveland CavaliersSunday 3/16, 1:09 PM CT
Zydrunas Ilgauskas got through practice Saturday and is expected to return to game action on Sunday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Big Z has missed seven games due to a strained back, but it's time to return him to your lineups.
Nenad Krstic, C, New Jersey NetsSunday 3/16, 1:04 PM CT
Nenad Krstic skipped Saturday's game due to an upper-respiratory infection, according to the New York Daily News. He's listed as day-to-day.
Ray Allen, G, Boston CelticsSunday 3/16, 12:55 PM CT
Ray Allen skipped Saturday's game due to his bruised heel, but he could return as soon as Monday, according to the Boston Globe. "He'll be fine," said coach Doc Rivers. "I think he can play as early as Monday, maybe a little after that. I'm not sure yet. It's nothing serious. It's just a bruise in his heel and we want it to go away. The best way is rest." Ray-Ray's had problems with his feet for years, so expect the C's to play it safely with him and hold him out until he's healthy enough to not risk aggravating the ailment.
Stephen Jackson, F, Golden State WarriorsSunday 3/16, 12:08 AM CT
Stephen Jackson led the team with 21 points as the Warriors downed the Grizzlies 110-107. He also chipped in six assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block. He should remain a solid source of points for the Warriors.
Mike Miller, G, Minnesota TimberwolvesSunday 3/16, 12:03 AM CT
Mike Miller had a solid game in the Grizzlies' close loss to Golden State (110-107) as he generated 19 points, a game-high 13 boards, six assists, and one steal. That was his eighth double-double of the season.
