Carmelo Anthony, F, Denver NuggetsSaturday 4/5, 11:07 PM CT
Carmelo Anthony certainly wasn't slowed by his injured shoulder on this night as he pumped in 47 points for the Nuggets. Anthony took 24 shots on the night hitting a whopping 19 of them, in one of the most efficient big scoring nights of the season. Melo had 11 boards on the night and only turned the ball over three times, a surprisingly low total considering how often the ball made its way into his hands.
Kevin Martin, G, Sacramento KingsSaturday 4/5, 11:05 PM CT
Kevin Martin overcame the flu, an illness that caused him to miss the shoot around, to score 36 points in the Kings 118-115 victory over the Nuggets. Martin played almost 41 minutes on the night hitting 10 shots from the field including three from downtown. He did turn the ball over six times, but without those point the Kings would likely not have been able to keep up with the Nuggets.
Ben Gordon, G, Chicago BullsSaturday 4/5, 10:20 PM CT
The Bulls Mr. Offense, Ben Gordon, led the team with 18 points on Saturday night as one of only three players who scored in double figures. This year has seen a regression in Gordon's shooting percentage, scoring average, rebounds and assist totals. However, all the numbers are still right on his career averages but they are still slightly below the totals he posted last season.
Brendan Haywood, C, Washington WizardsSaturday 4/5, 10:16 PM CT
Brendan Haywood scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Wizards to a 99-87 victory over the Bulls on Saturday night. Haywood was 9-for-16 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the line while he tossed in 10 boards for a fantastic all-around effort. With Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas out of the lineup the scoring had to come from somewhere, and tonight it came from the center position for the Wizards.
Rasho Nesterovic, C, Indiana PacersSaturday 4/5, 9:14 PM CT
Rasho Nesterovic was 10-for-12 from the field on his way to 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Raptors in their loss to the Nets. That marks three straight games with at least 20 points for Rasho, quite a run considering that he is averaging only 7.2 points a game this season. Truth is, this was the 13th straight game Nesterovic has scored in double-digits for the Raptors as his scoring touch has returned.
Richard Jefferson, F, Milwaukee BucksSaturday 4/5, 9:07 PM CT
Richard Jefferson scored 28 points on 22 shots and he also added five rebounds and six assists on the night. Scoring almost 23 points a game, Jefferson is on pace to record the highest scoring total of his seven year career and his shooting percentage has actually gone up to almost 49% in his last 19 games even without the ball being placed in his hands by Jason Kidd.
Vince Carter, G, New Jersey NetsSaturday 4/5, 9:02 PM CT
Vince Carter scored 32 points, including 21 in the second half, to keep the Nets playoff hopes alive with a 99-90 victory over the Raptors. Carter made only one 3-pointer on the night in five tries, but he still was able to convert 12 of 21 shots on the night. Carter was able to add seven rebounds with five assists as he overcame an injured ankle to play against his former team.
Josh Smith, F, Atlanta HawksSaturday 4/5, 8:58 PM CT
Josh Smith scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Saturday night for the Hawks. As solid a night as that sounds it's barely better than his season long marks of 17.1 points and 8.2 boards a game. This is the fourth straight season that Smith will have seen his scoring average go up, and his current 45.6 shooting percentage would be a career best.
Andre Iguodala, F, Philadelphia 76ersSaturday 4/5, 8:55 PM CT
Andre Iguodala put up 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Sixers loss to the Hawks on Saturday night. Since the all-star break Iguodala has upped his scoring mark, his shooting percentage and his assist average while lowering his turnovers by one per game. Now that's progress.
Joe Johnson, G, Atlanta HawksSaturday 4/5, 8:49 PM CT
Joe Johnson had another in a long line of impressive performances on Saturday as he scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished off six assists in the Hawks 36th victory of the season. Johnson has averaged more than 41 minutes a game over the past 27 games, during which time he has averaged nearly 24 points a game. Toss in an improved shooting percentage of over 47% and it's easy to see why he remains one of the best all-around options in fantasy basketball.
Jason Richardson, G, Charlotte BobcatsSaturday 4/5, 8:41 PM CT
Jason Richardson was held to only nine points on 4-for-12 shooting by the Celtics on Saturday night. Richardson had been on a scoring tear of late with at least 20 points in nine games before he laid this egg, so look for him to rebound the next time out.
Rajon Rondo, G, Boston CelticsSaturday 4/5, 8:38 PM CT
Rajon Rondo scored six points with five rebounds, five assists, three steals and four turnovers on Saturday night for the Celtics. Rondo was only 3-for-10 from the field and this was his fourth straight outing that he failed to score in double digits.
Leon Powe, F, Boston CelticsSaturday 4/5, 8:34 PM CT
Leon Powe scored 22 points and hauled in nine rebounds in 30 minutes of action for the Celtics on Saturday night to help the team clinch home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Powe took only eight shots on the night as he was 12-for-13 from the line. Powe has now gone for at least 12 points in in four of the last five games despite playing more than 25 minutes only twice.
Gilbert Arenas, G, Washington WizardsSaturday 4/5, 8:26 PM CT
Add Gilbert Arenas to Antawn Jamison and what do you get? How about two Wizards players who will not suit up on Saturday night, this according to the Washington Post. After playing last night, the team decided Agent Zero could use the rest and avoid the second of back-to-back games. "The training staff looked at him and they're going to be real, real delicate with Gilbert," associate head coach Mike O'Koren said. "He's coming back from injury and he looked fine: he's obviously in great shape, great condition for being out that long and it's purely precautionary. He'll be back at practice Monday and Tuesday and be ready to go for Boston on Wednesday." There you go, you have the whole outlook for Arenas and know just when to get him back in your lineup, that is if the team follows through with its plans of course.
Kevin Martin, G, Sacramento KingsSaturday 4/5, 8:21 PM CT
Kevin Martin will end up playing on Saturday night after all, this according to the Sacramento Bee. Apparently Martin felt good enough after doing some work this afternoon that he will suit up to play against Denver.
Kevin Martin, G, Sacramento KingsSaturday 4/5, 5:27 PM CT
Kevin Martin, Ron Artest and Brad Miller may all miss the Kings game with the Nuggets on Saturday, this according to the Sacramento Bee. Martin is dealing with the flu, Artest with a sprained left thumb and Miller with a lower leg strain. Throw in the fact that Beno Udrih is also expected to miss the game with a lower back strain, and there are likely a lot of unhappy fans in Dallas and Golden State who are battling the Nuggets for playoff positioning.
Antawn Jamison, F, Washington WizardsSaturday 4/5, 5:23 PM CT
Antawn Jamison, who missed the Wizards game on Friday because of a sprained right shoulder, is being listed as doubtful to play on Saturday, this according to the Washington Post. Jamison is one of the leagues most consistent sources of production with an average of 21.5 points and 10.2 rebounds, so his loses is a substantial one.
Delonte West, G, Cleveland CavaliersSaturday 4/5, 5:15 PM CT
Delonte West went 7-for-10 from the field on his way to 19 points for the Cavs. West hit three 3-pointers on the day with six rebounds and five assists, though that performance was somewhat mitigated by the fact that West turned the ball over five times. West has averaged 9.5 points and 4.7 assists over 21 games in Cleveland which is not quite the upward surge in production that was hoped for after his trade with the Sonics. Still, this is only his fourth season, so perhaps next season will bring the awaited breakout.
LeBron James, F, Cleveland CavaliersSaturday 4/5, 5:07 PM CT
LeBron James scored 17 points with seven rebounds and nine assists on Saturday, but the number that really stands out is 16, as in the number of the 22 shots that James took that failed to find the bottom of the net. James also turned the ball over five times in the game, so perhaps that minor back soreness is starting to take a slight toll on James.
Dwight Howard, F, Orlando MagicSaturday 4/5, 5:04 PM CT
Dwight Howard had one of his worst games of the season on Saturday as he scored a measly four points on 1-for-8 shotting for the Magic. Howard still contributed on the boards with 12, but when you score as many points as Adonal Foyle and fail to block a shot, you have to expect us to call you out Mr. Howard.
Hedo Turkoglu, F, Orlando MagicSaturday 4/5, 5:01 PM CT
Hedo Turkoglu scored 23 points to help the Magic lock up the 3rd seed in the playoffs with their 101-86 victory over the Cavaliers. As he has done for most of the year, Tukoglu contributed across the board with five rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocked shots as he continues to post the best numbers of his career.
Carmelo Anthony, F, Denver NuggetsSaturday 4/5, 12:14 PM CT
The Denver Nuggets reported Thursday the team has been keeping Carmelo Anthony out of practice as he nurses an undisclosed injury to his right shoulder, but his status for tonight's home game versus Sacramento has yet to be updated. The team has not played since Tuesday's big win versus Phoenix when Melo scored 25 of Denver's 126 points, including two clutch free throws near the end to secure the victory. With Denver fighting for the final spot in the Western Conference playoffs, it would seem likely he'll be on the floor, but stay tuned as we will update his condition when that information becomes available.
Mike Bibby, G, Atlanta HawksSaturday 4/5, 12:04 PM CT
Atlanta PG Mike Bibby seemed to be rolling into form, having scored an average of 20 points over his last nine games heading into last night's battle with Philadelphia. Then the wheels fell off as Bibby went 1-of-11 from the field and 1-of-4 from three-point range, never reaching the foul line in 39 minutes of play to score just 3 points. Atlanta is fighting to stay in front of Indiana for the 8th and final playoff spot in the East, and Bibby was brought in via trade to make that a reality. Look for him to come out with scoring on the mind today as the Hawks get that rematch with Philly on the floor.
Gilbert Arenas, G, Washington WizardsSaturday 4/5, 9:17 AM CT
The Wizards secured a spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs and have been able to do so without rushing Gilbert Arenas back into action. Arenas logged just 20 minutes in last night's 109-95 win over Miami, going 4-of-10 from the floor, 3-of-5 from three-point range, and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe to post 13 points and eight assists. With the playoffs secured, we can expect Arenas to be used in a limited role as he saves his energy for games that truly matter. Keep this in mind as you ponder these late-season fantasy implications to close out the season.
Deron Williams, G, Utah JazzSaturday 4/5, 9:12 AM CT
The score was the story of the evening, but Deron Williams did his part to help the cause and further his case as one of the two best guards in the NBA. Williams shot just 4-of-13 from the field but also went 2-of-4 from three-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line to score 16 points, spiced with 11 assists in Utah's surprising 26-point win (90-64) over the San Antonio Spurs.
Steve Nash, G, Phoenix SunsSaturday 4/5, 8:55 AM CT
Steve Nash continues to round into form as the playoffs approach, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and 3-of-3 from three-point range to score 14 points, rounded with 11 assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Nash has struggled to meld with the transforming chemistry of this team since Shaquille O'Neal joined the squad, but as the playoffs approach, his game is getting back on track. He's posted double-digit scoring and assist numbers in each of his last two games and has led his team to 10 wins in the Suns' last 14 contests.
Lamar Odom, F, Los Angeles LakersSaturday 4/5, 8:40 AM CT
Lamar Odom put his best foot forward in leading his LA Lakers to a 112-108 win over Dallas last night. Odom went an astounding 12-of-14 from the field, matched with 7-of-10 from the charity stripe to score a team-high 31 points. Odom also tacked on 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocked shots to give fantasy owners top rewards on the evening.
Kobe Bryant, G, Los Angeles LakersSaturday 4/5, 8:37 AM CT
Kobe Bryant spread the wealth and enjoyed the work of teammates Lamar Odom and Paul Gasol as the Lakers picked up the 112-108 victory over the Dallas Mavericks last night. Kobe went 7-of-14 from the floor, 3-of-4 from the three-point line, and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line to score 25 points, adding 10 rebounds and six assists in a solid overall effort.
Chris Paul, G, New Orleans HornetsSaturday 4/5, 8:32 AM CT
Chris Paul was putting forth yet another MVP notice as his New Orleans Hornets put the wood to the New York Knicks, winning 110-118 last night. Paul went an impressive 10-of-19 from the field and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line to finish with 33 points, adding 15 assists to complete his SEVENTH consecutive double-double. In fact, Paul has failed to produce double-digit scores and assists in just one game in his last 16 contests.
