Tony Romo, QB, Dallas CowboysFriday 10/12, 10:05 PM CT
The father of quarterback Tony Romo, Ramiro Romo has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. "You just love your dad, you want him to be all right," Romo said Friday. "It's just part of getting older, and it happens to a lot of people. So, it's just another step in the path of life." Romo’s parents will be in attendance at this weekend’s game against the Patriots.
Marcus Pollard, TE, Friday 10/12, 10:02 PM CT
Seattle Seahawks tight end Marcus Pollard returned to practice today, and thinks he will be ready to play in Sunday night’s game against the Saints. Pollard had been nursing an injured knee. Coach Mike Holmgren said that Pollard is about 75% and will be a game time decision. If Pollard is unable to start Ben Joppru and Will Heller will split time.
Daniel Wilcox, TE, Baltimore RavensFriday 10/12, 8:37 PM CT
Ravens back-up tight end Daniel Wilcox has been listed as out for this week’s game against the Rams. Wilcox is behind Todd Heap on the depth chart, but Heap is listed as probable for Sunday’s tilt.
Brian Dawkins, S, Philadelphia EaglesFriday 10/12, 8:32 PM CT
Safety Brian Dawkins has been ruled out for this weekend’s game against the Jets. He sustained a neck stinger in the game against the Lions in Week 3. Quintin Mikell will start in his place.
Roy Williams, S, Dallas CowboysFriday 10/12, 8:31 PM CT
Safety Roy Williams was fined $15,000 for his second “horse-collar” tackle this season, for the takedown of Marshawn Lynch last Monday night. He was fined $12,500 for a similar tackle against Bears tight end Desmond Clark earlier this season.
Fred Taylor, RB, Jacksonville JaguarsFriday 10/12, 6:39 PM CT
Running back Fred Taylor has a tweaked groin, and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Houston. Taylor practiced on Wednesday, was limited in practice on Thursday, but missed Friday’s practice due to the injury.
David Carr, QB, New York GiantsFriday 10/12, 4:08 PM CT
Panthers quarterback David Carr is probable for this week’s game with the Cardinals. He returned to practice for a full session Friday after missing the previous two days with back problems. It appears the world has been saved from having to endure Vinny Testaverde as the Panthers’ starting quarterback. However, Carr’s back injury makes him a very risky fantasy play because he could be forced out of the game after any hit.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona CardinalsFriday 10/12, 4:01 PM CT
The Cardinals have listed receiver Anquan Boldin as doubtful on their Week 6 injury report after he was unable to practice on Friday. It looks highly unlikely Boldin will play this week, which means Bryant Johnson will get another chance to start. He is a solid plug-in for fantasy owners against the Panthers.
LaMont Jordan, RB, New England PatriotsFriday 10/12, 3:58 PM CT
LaMont Jordan was limited in practice again on Friday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game in San Diego. Jordan is dealing with a sore back. He will test his back again during pre-game warm-ups on Sunday, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Tarvaris Jackson, QB, Minnesota VikingsFriday 10/12, 3:40 PM CT
Although Brad Childress once again declined to name a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Bears, he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Tarvaris Jackson will be listed as probable on the injury report with the groin injury that sidelined him the last two games.
Tatum Bell, RB, Denver BroncosFriday 10/12, 3:34 PM CT
Tatum Bell has asked the Lions to trade him prior to next week’s deadline, according to ESPN.com. He is upset because his playing time has decreased since Kevin Jones returned from the injured list.
Jacoby Jones, WR, Houston TexansFriday 10/12, 12:12 PM CT
Jacoby Jones was more involved in Thursday's practice, and Texans coach Gary Kubiak indicated Jones could return to action this weekend against the Jaguars. "He asked me how I felt in practice and I told him, 'Coach, I'm ready to go'," Jones told the Houston Chronicle. Jones has been sidelined since suffering a separated shoulder in week three. His presence will be most valuable as a return man, as Andre Davis has picked up plenty of slack in the passing game.
Kenny Watson, RB, Cincinnati BengalsFriday 10/12, 12:10 PM CT
Rudi Johnson missed a second straight practice on Thursday, and Kenny Watson indicated he is ready to take Rudi's place in the starting lineup for a second consecutive game. "I'm preparing like I'm going to be a starter. That's all I can say," Watson told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I think Rudi's coming along good. We'll see Sunday." Johnson left the Bengals' week three game with a hamstring injury and missed their week four loss to the Patriots. In a week where six teams are on the bye and a handful more quality running backs are likely to be sidelined by injury, Watson makes a solid fantasy start against a Chiefs defense that hasn't shut down the run much this season.
Lance Moore, WR, New Orleans SaintsFriday 10/12, 12:08 PM CT
Although Sean Payton has declined to say whether Lance Moore will replace Devery Henderson in the starting lineup, he did confess to the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he wants to get him more involved in the offense. Moore has 12 grabs for 132 yards this season.
Laurence Maroney, RB, New England PatriotsFriday 10/12, 11:06 AM CT
Laurence Maroney may, in fact, play again. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick addressed Maroney's status for the first time in three weeks during a Friday morning press conference. "He's making progress, he's doing some things on the field," Belichick told the Boston Globe. "It will probably be a game time decision. He's definitely getting closer." Maroney has missed two straight games with an injured groin.
Tarvaris Jackson, QB, Minnesota VikingsFriday 10/12, 11:04 AM CT
Tarvaris Jackson split practice reps with Kelly Holcomb on Thursday, while head coach Brad Childress declined to name a starter. “I’ve been practicing all week, and it’s feeling better and better each week,” Jackson told the Minneapolis Star Tribune regarding a groin injury. He sat out the last two games with the injury.
Chester Taylor, RB, Minnesota VikingsFriday 10/12, 10:55 AM CT
Chester Taylor and defensive end Erasmus James fought in the locker room after practice on Wednesday, according to Friday’s Minneapolis Star Tribune. James punched Taylor near the eye, and then Taylor responded by throwing a chair at James. However, the chair missed James and struck offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.
Greg Jennings, WR, Green Bay PackersFriday 10/12, 10:37 AM CT
Greg Jennings did not practice on Thursday. However, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that he is expected to test his injured shoulder and hamstring on Friday, and will most likely play on Sunday against the Redskins.

Devery Henderson, WR, New Orleans SaintsFriday 10/12, 10:13 AM CT
Devery Henderson has taken a lot of heat for leading the league with seven dropped passes this season. However, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints lead the league in 16 dropped passes. Reggie Bush has three drops, and tight end Eric Johnson has dropped three balls.
Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego ChargersFriday 10/12, 10:13 AM CT
Vincent Jackson practiced fully on Thursday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Jackson was out on Wednesday due to a sore shoulder.
LaMont Jordan, RB, New England PatriotsFriday 10/12, 10:09 AM CT
LaMont Jordan spoke to the media on Thursday about his sore back. "This is the worst it's been in years," he explains to the Oakland Tribune. "I really can't remember it feeling that bad, as it did in the Miami game, but it's getting better. I'm not going to say I'm 100 percent or anything like that... Really, it's just a matter of how things go (Friday), and if the coaches feel comfortable with me getting out there." Jordan took a pain-killing shot in his back sometime since Week 4. He was limited in practice on Wednesday but showed improvement on Thursday.
Brian Kelly, CB, Detroit LionsFriday 10/12, 10:07 AM CT
Brian Kelly missed a second straight day of practice with a strained groin. He’s been bothered by the injury all season and the St. Petersburg Times speculates that it will not heal without extensive rest.
Barrett Ruud, LB, Tampa Bay BuccaneersFriday 10/12, 10:04 AM CT
Barrett Ruud was able to take part in most of practice on Thursday after sitting out the previous day with a knee injury. He told the St. Petersburg Times that he should start on Sunday against the Titans.
Antwaan Randle El, WR, Washington RedskinsFriday 10/12, 10:01 AM CT

Dan Morgan, LB, Friday 10/12, 9:53 AM CT
Dan Morgan did not practice on Thursday due to the ankle injury that forced him to sit out last week, according to the Charlotte Observer. Likewise, his backup Adam Seward sat out with a calf injury.
Lito Sheppard, CB, Philadelphia EaglesFriday 10/12, 9:52 AM CT
Lito Sheppard has been testing the sprained MCL in his right knee during practice this week, and he doesn't appear to quite be ready for Week 6. "Just working to get back to my original form right now. Right now, I might be a first- or second-year Lito. Trying to get to the third-to-fifth-year Lito," Sheppard tells the Philadelphia Daily News. He hasn't played since the season opener.
David Carr, QB, New York GiantsFriday 10/12, 9:49 AM CT
David Carr is still expected to play on Sunday against the Cardinals despite missing practice all week with a back injury, according to the Charlotte Observer. He suffered the injury during Sunday’s win over the Saints.
Byron Leftwich, QB, Pittsburgh SteelersFriday 10/12, 9:48 AM CT
Byron Leftwich left Thursday’s practice with a left ankle injury. “It’s OK,” Leftwich told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It’s a minor sprain. They wanted to make sure that I didn’t do anything further to it.” Leftwich added that he believes he’ll be healthy enough to play on Monday night against the Giants.
William Thomas, T, Philadelphia EaglesFriday 10/12, 9:47 AM CT
Eagles left tackle William Thomas and left guard Todd Herremans are both optimistic about their chances of playing on Sunday against the Jets. Thomas did not play in Week 4 due to a sprained MCL, but he returned to practice on Thursday. "We'll see how my body responds to it tomorrow, and just take it from there," he tells the Philadelphia Daily News. Herremans underwent surgery over the bye week to repair cartilage in his knee, and he took part in a few drills on Thursday.
Steve Smith, WR, New York GiantsFriday 10/12, 9:41 AM CT
Steve Smith put on pads and practiced a bit on Thursday. It was his first such activity since he fractured a shoulder blade (scapula) in Week 2, the New York Daily News reports. Smith has already been ruled out for Week 6.
Jay Feely, K, New York JetsFriday 10/12, 5:15 AM CT
Jay Feely has a stretch of 21 consecutive field goals made, dating back to last season. He's 11-for-11 with Miami, including four makes in the loss to Houston last week. Normally you don't want to get invested with kickers tied to mediocre offenses, but Feely has been thriving anyway through the opening five weeks.
Jamal Lewis, RB, Cleveland BrownsFriday 10/12, 5:11 AM CT
Jamal Lewis (foot) missed his second straight practice Thursday, and according to the team's official site, he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday's match with Miami. Jason Wright would step in Sunday if Lewis is unable to go.
Ike Hilliard, WR, Tampa Bay BuccaneersFriday 10/12, 5:08 AM CT
Ike Hilliard was limited in Thursday's practice. He's been dealing with an ankle injury for a while, and now he's got a sore shoulder as well.
Torry Holt, WR, St. Louis RamsFriday 10/12, 5:02 AM CT

Tarvaris Jackson, QB, Minnesota VikingsFriday 10/12, 5:00 AM CT

Steve McNair, QB, Friday 10/12, 4:49 AM CT
Although Steve McNair missed Thursday's practice with a sore back, the Ravens aren't worried about him missing Sunday's game with St. Louis. The Rams are giving up 146 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry, so McNair might be handing off to his backs for most of Sunday. You should have better options at your disposal.
LaMont Jordan, RB, New England PatriotsFriday 10/12, 4:45 AM CT
LaMont Jordan was active at the visible part of Thursday's practice, according to the Sacramento Bee. Nonetheless, the status on Jordan (back) for Week 6 probably won't be determined until game day, and we've already learned that head coach Lane Kiffin has no intention in being helpful with his injury disclosures and lineup plans. Tread carefully here, especially considering the crowd currently in the Oakland backfield (Jordan, Justin Fargas, Dominic Rhodes).
Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis RamsFriday 10/12, 4:42 AM CT
Even though Steven Jackson did some light individual work this week for the first time since tearing a groin muscle Sept. 23, his return is far from imminent, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Jackson might not be back until after the Rams take their bye in Week 9.
Najeh Davenport, RB, Pittsburgh SteelersFriday 10/12, 4:11 AM CT
Cleveland police have charged Najeh Davenport with three misdemeanor counts for his alleged role in an Oct. 4 domestic incident, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Davenport is accused of committing domestic violence, endangering children and unlawful restraint during a custody dispute with Anita Person over their 5-year-old child. Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett could not be reached for comment. The only good news for Davenport is the timing of all this - Pittsburgh doesn't play in Week 6.
Olindo Mare, K, Seattle SeahawksFriday 10/12, 1:12 AM CT
Olindo Mare hit a number of field goals from various distances at Thursday's practice, Sean Payton enough confidence to keep Mare active this Sunday night in Seattle, the AP reports. "Mare looked a lot better, looked sharp, did a good job," Payton said. In addition to botching kicks all over the place since the preseason, Mare is also dealing with a sore groin of late.
Erasmus James, DE, Washington RedskinsFriday 10/12, 12:48 AM CT
Erasmus James was listed on Thursday's injury report with a shoulder injury, one day after reportedly getting into a fight with teammate Chester Taylor in the locker room, the AP reports. James, who has been out since a knee injury in Week 2 of last season, has been steadily working his way back into playing shape and was considered a candidate to be activated on Sunday against Chicago. But he was a surprise addition to the injury report, and coach Brad Childress said James missed a portion of practice due to a sore shoulder.
