Jerious Norwood, RB, Atlanta FalconsMonday 10/15, 11:00 PM CT
Jerious Norwood piled up 87 rushing yards, 51 receiving yards, and a touchdown in Monday's loss to the Giants. He carried the ball six times and caught a career-high five passes. Much of Norwood's career-high 138 total yards came on a 67-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He remains the backup to Warrick Dunn, who had only 15 yards on eight carries.
Brandon Jacobs, RB, New York GiantsMonday 10/15, 10:35 PM CT
Brandon Jacobs suffered a "burner" and tweaked his ankle during Monday's game against the Falcons. He played into the fourth quarter but is not expected to return.
Derrick Ward, RB, New York GiantsMonday 10/15, 10:31 PM CT
Derrick Ward aggravated his sprained left ankle during Monday's game against the Falcons, but he returned to action in the fourth quarter and scored.
Javon Walker, WR, Oakland RaidersMonday 10/15, 7:44 PM CT
Javon Walker practiced on Monday, and he hopes to play in Week 7. However, Walker also remained realistic about the inflammation in his right knee. “It’s just an injury where it (takes) time and you don’t really get time (to rehabilitate) until the season’s overwith," Walker tells the team's official web site. "I’m ready to go... It’s getting there. It’s football, so it’s never going to be 100 percent, but I can get it monitored during the week of practice.” Walker hasn't played since Week 3.
Jamal Williams, DT, San Diego ChargersMonday 10/15, 7:40 PM CT
Jamal Williams is taking advantage of the bye week. He underwent surgery to remove particles from both knees on Monday. "Based on what our doctors said, it would have been hard for him to keep going," head coach Norv Turner tells the AP. Williams could be back when the Chargers return to action in Week 8.
Brandon Jones, WR, Tennessee TitansMonday 10/15, 7:35 PM CT
Brandon Jones underwent knee surgery on Monday and will miss two-to-three weeks, the Tennessean reports. Jones did not play in Week 6.
Kyle Boller, QB, Baltimore RavensMonday 10/15, 7:27 PM CT
Kyle Boller will start again in Week 7, and Steve McNair will miss another game due to a bad back. "The idea of getting a chance to be healthy as we approach midseason is intriguing to him because he's been battling through it," head coach Brian Billick explains to the AP. The Ravens play in Buffalo this Sunday and are on the bye in Week 8.
Marc Bulger, QB, St. Louis RamsMonday 10/15, 7:23 PM CT
Marc Bulger told the AP on Monday that he plans to start in Week 7. He has missed the last two games due to cracked ribs, and Gus Frerotte has started in his place. "Yeah, I'm playing," Bulger says. "I'm ready now after standing around for two weeks. They definitely feel a little better, but I haven't been hit."
Derrick Ward, RB, New York GiantsMonday 10/15, 7:19 PM CT
Derrick Ward is active for Monday night's game against the Falcons. He was once again limited throughout the practice week due to a sprained left ankle.
Plaxico Burress, WR, New York GiantsMonday 10/15, 7:17 PM CT
Plaxico Burress is active and will start on Monday night against the Falcons. He was once again limited throughout the practice week due to a sprained right ankle.
Nick Hardwick, C, San Diego ChargersMonday 10/15, 9:15 AM CT
Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick injured his right foot early in Sunday's win over the Raiders, and signs point to the injury being somewhat severe. Hardwick was in a boot after the game. "We know what it is, but I can't tell you," Hardwick tells the North County Times. "Let's just say with the bye coming up we steal one week there." Cory Withrow took his place in the lineup. The Chargers are on bye in Week 7.
Casey Rabach, C, Washington RedskinsMonday 10/15, 8:54 AM CT
The Redskins offensive line suffered three more injuries on Sunday. Center Casey Rabach strained his groin early in the third quarter, right tackle Todd Wade strained his groin in the first half, and Wade's replacement, Stephon Heyer, injured a hamstring in the fourth quarter. All three linemen will be updated on Monday, the team's official web site reports.
Drew Bennett, WR, St. Louis RamsMonday 10/15, 8:29 AM CT
Drew Bennett was knocked out of yesterday's game with a hamstring injury. He did not return, according to the St. Louis Post-Disaptch. His status for Week 7 against the Seahawks is unclear at this point.
Alex Smith, TE, Tampa Bay BuccaneersMonday 10/15, 8:25 AM CT
Alex Smith exited Sunday's game early with an ankle injury. "It looks like it was just a sprain. The X-rays were negative," said Smith, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Smith added that he doesn't expect to miss any game action, so he should be good to go for the Bucs' next game, barring a setback.
Santana Moss, WR, Washington RedskinsMonday 10/15, 8:16 AM CT
Santana Moss returned from his strained groin Sunday, but he didn't play after dropping a 30-yard pass one drive after fumbling in the third quarter. The fumble was returned for the game-winning touchdown. "I can blame the rain, I can blame it on whatever, but what it comes down to is, point blank, I've just got to make those plays regardless of the situation," Moss said, according to the Washington Post. "I've been that player before. I can say that I've had one of those games that I never seen myself having, but if I want to blame anybody I'll blame myself." Obviously, his groin wasn't 100 percent and played a role in Moss being ineffective, but it didn't explain the fumble. We'll see as the week goes along whether he'll be ready for their next game.
Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona CardinalsMonday 10/15, 7:37 AM CT
Kurt Warner said after yesterday's game that he had a torn ligament in his elbow. "We'll see the extent of it and see what we can do as far as getting me back as soon as possible," he said, according to the Arizona Republic. More will be known about whether he'll need surgery or if he can play again this season after he has an MRI taken on Monday. Tim Rattay will start this week against the Redskins, and the Cards are expected to sign Tim Hasselbeck for depth.
Terry Glenn, WR, Monday 10/15, 7:22 AM CT
Terry Glenn hopes to start running later this week, as he works his way back from two knee surgeries. Although Glenn said he expects to return this season, he would not give a timetable for when he might get into game action again, according to the Dallas Morning News. In the meantime, Patrick Crayton will continue to start opposite Terrell Owens for the Cowboys.
Tony Romo, QB, Dallas CowboysMonday 10/15, 7:16 AM CT
Tony Romo had his shoulder heavily wrapped after Sunday night's game. He said he sustained a rotator cuff injury early in the contest, though it didn't stop him from completing the game, according to the Dallas Morning News. Although Romo said it wouldn't keep him from facing the Vikings next weekend, you'll want to keep an eye on him this week to make sure he doesn't aggravate the injury in practice.
Vince Young, QB, Tennessee TitansMonday 10/15, 7:08 AM CT
The injury that knocked Vince Young out of Sunday's game has been diagnosed as a strained right quadriceps. "We will evaluate it, and we will continue to evaluate," coach Jeff Fisher told the Tennessean. "He tried to stay as loose as he could in case we had an issue with Kerry (Collins). At this point he will just be day-to-day. It was not something that he could have played and played effectively with." The Titans don't seem too concerned about the injury, but whether he will be able to play in their next game is up in the air. Collins would start if Young can't.
Fred Taylor, RB, Jacksonville JaguarsMonday 10/15, 6:54 AM CT
Fred Taylor was able to suit up Sunday despite his strained groin and rushed for a season-high 90 yards on six carries. However, he took part in only two plays in the second half, according to the Florida Times-Union. "I'm good," Taylor said after the game. "Coming out at halftime, my legs just locked up in the adductor area [of the groin], both sides. For the whole third quarter, they were locked up. When I finally got them to loosen up for me, it was a given that we were gonna win the game. So it didn't make any sense to get back in there." 76 of his 90 total rushing yards came on his first carry, so aside from that he was held in check. Meanwhile, Maurice Jones-Drew racked up 184 total yards and two touchdowns. We'll have to wait to see how Taylor holds up in practice this week before getting an idea of whether he'll be able to play in Week 7.
Chad Pennington, QB, Miami DolphinsMonday 10/15, 6:37 AM CT
Chad Pennington had yet another unimpressive outing Sunday, as he finished with 128 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception, and the Jets dropped to 1-5 on the season. Is it finally time for backup Kellen Clemens to replace Pennington as the starting quarterback? "No," is what coach Eric Mangini told reporters after the game when asked if he was considering a change at QB, according to the New York Daily News. Expect the public pressure to get Clemens in over Pennington to continue to mount, but time will tell if Mangini is ready to move on without Pennington at the helm.
