Anthony Henry, CB, Dallas CowboysTuesday 10/16, 10:37 PM CT
Anthony Henry has already been ruled out for Week 7. He's battling a high ankle sprain, an injury that dates back to Week 4.
Chris Chambers, WR, San Diego ChargersTuesday 10/16, 2:11 PM CT
The Chargers have acquired Chris Chambers in a trade with the Dolphins, ESPN is reporting. Terms of the deal are not known. The teams are expected to make an announcement before 4:00 p.m. EST. We assume this means the Chargers do not expect Eric Parker to return anytime soon. Chambers should jump into the starting lineup when the Chargers return in Week 8, but we don't view this as much (if any) of an upgrade for the receiver's fantasy value. Marty Booker now looks like the No. 1 option in Miami, with Ted Ginn and Derek Hagan moving into bigger roles.
Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona CardinalsTuesday 10/16, 2:02 PM CT
Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner may try coming back to practice as soon as Wednesday after an MRI confirmed he will not need surgery to fix the torn ligament in his left elbow, according to the Arizona Republic. Warner suffered the injury during Sunday’s game against the Panthers.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona CardinalsTuesday 10/16, 11:31 AM CT
Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt expects injured wideout Anquan Boldin back at practice Wednesday, according to the East Valley Tribune. Boldin has missed the last three games because of the bum hip. He worked out before Sunday’s game and reported no problems afterwards, so it looks like fantasy owners will be able to employ him this week. That will translate into fewer looks for Larry Fitzgerald, who has 353 yards over the last three weeks.
Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco 49ersTuesday 10/16, 11:15 AM CT
49ers quarterback Alex Smith, who hasn’t played since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 4, threw extensively on Saturday and did more tossing Monday. He told the Sacramento Bee that his velocity is close to normal and that his longest throws traveled about 55 yards. Head coach Mike Nolan has called Smith “questionable” for this week. Fantasy owners should be avoiding him since he was not being productive even before the injury.
Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis RamsTuesday 10/16, 10:41 AM CT
Rams running back Steven Jackson is considered doubtful for this week’s game against the Seahawks, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He hasn’t played since injuring his groin on September 23. Jackson owners should not be planning to have him available this week and perhaps not for a couple more games. Brian Leonard will be the Rams’ featured back Sunday, and he is a decent option for fantasy owners, especially those in yardage-heavy leagues.
Drew Bennett, WR, St. Louis RamsTuesday 10/16, 10:27 AM CT
Rams receiver Drew Bennett is going to try and make it on the field Sunday, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch describes him as questionable for the game against the Seahawks. Bennett injured his hamstring during Week 6’s loss to the Ravens.
Mike Goff, G, San Diego ChargersTuesday 10/16, 10:04 AM CT
Mike Goff underwent left thumb surgery on Monday and is expected to return to practice prior to Week 8, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The Chargers are on the bye in Week 7.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota VikingsTuesday 10/16, 10:03 AM CT
Adrian Peterson ’s huge performance against the Bears on Sunday will not lead to an increased workload. Head coach Brad Childress told Tuesday’s St. Paul Pioneer Press that the 25 touches (kickoffs included) Peterson took compared to Chester Taylor’s 22 touches is roughly the ratio he intends to use.
Josh McCown, QB, Carolina PanthersTuesday 10/16, 9:58 AM CT
Josh McCown may try to practice this week, but it sounds like he's not ready to regain his starting role. He is dealing with a fractured big toe in his left foot. "Lots of guys on this team play through soreness and pain, stuff like that," McCown tells the Sacramento Bee. "So I think we're getting close to the point where it's tolerable, and see what happens." Daunte Culpepper is starting in his place.
Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit LionsTuesday 10/16, 9:55 AM CT
Calvin Johnson was on the practice field and “worked pretty good” on Monday, head coach Rod Marinelli told Tuesday’s Detroit Free Press. Johnson has been limited by a back injury.
Tatum Bell, RB, Denver BroncosTuesday 10/16, 9:53 AM CT
The Lions have informed Tatum Bell that they do not intend to oblige his trade request before Tuesday’s deadline, according to the Detroit Free Press. He asked to be traded due to the lack of carries he’s had in the last two games.
Priest Holmes, RB, Kansas City ChiefsTuesday 10/16, 9:52 AM CT
Priest Holmes will practice when the team returns to the field this Wednesday. It's unknown when Holmes might be ready for game action. “I don’t know. I’d like to see him practice first," head coach Herm Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. "I’ll be able to answer that Wednesday after practice or Thursday.” Holmes has not played in a game or practiced since October 30, 2005, when he suffered neck and spine injuries.
Champ Bailey, CB, Denver BroncosTuesday 10/16, 9:45 AM CT
Champ Bailey did not practice on Monday, but he hopes to return for Wednesday's session. He injured his quad in Week 5, and the Broncos were on the bye in Week 6. "You just have to be careful with these muscle pulls," Bailey tells the Denver Post. "I wanted to be out there (Monday), but it wasn't the smart thing to do. Come Sunday, I'll be there." The Broncos host the Steelers this week.
Koren Robinson, WR, Seattle SeahawksTuesday 10/16, 9:43 AM CT
Koren Robinson will complete his one-year suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy on Wednesday. However, commissioner Roger Goodell must reinstate him before he’ll be free to rejoin the Packers. “I believe we are moving closer to a decision on Koren Robinson,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Bubba Franks, TE, New York JetsTuesday 10/16, 9:38 AM CT
Bubba Franks could be sidelined for two weeks by a sprained knee. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported on Tuesday that he suffered a sprained PCL during Sunday’s win over the Redskins.
Casey Rabach, C, Washington RedskinsTuesday 10/16, 9:37 AM CT
The Redskins are worried about the three offensive line injuries they suffered on Sunday, but head trainer Bubba Tyer sounds positive about center Casey Rabach. "We're concerned about all of them, but I think we're going to be okay with Casey," Tyer tells the Washington Post. "We'll see how it goes day-to-day and update as we go." Rabach injured his groin, as did tackle Stephon Heyer. Right tackle Todd Wade hurt his hamstring.
Adam Archuleta, S, Tuesday 10/16, 9:32 AM CT
Lovie Smith gave Adam Archuleta a vote of confidence on Monday by stating that the struggling safety “is our starter,” according to the Chicago Tribune. Archuleta was pulled from Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.
Darwin Walker, DT, Carolina PanthersTuesday 10/16, 9:27 AM CT
The Bears run defense will most likely get a boost from the expected return of Darwin Walker when they face the Eagles on Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He did not play in Week 6 due to a sprained left knee.
J.P. Losman, QB, Buffalo BillsTuesday 10/16, 8:18 AM CT
Bills head coach Dick Jauron won’t reveal his Week 7 starter at quarterback until Wednesday. “I think that’s still up in the air, whose call it is, who’s going to take responsibility for it,” J.P. Losman told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. “I don’t know who can answer these questions. It’s an awkward situation, an awkward scenario.” Rookie Trent Edwards stepped in for an injured Losman and led the Bills to their only win in Week 4 and nearly pulled off a stunning upset of the Cowboys in Week 5.
Trent Green, QB, St. Louis RamsTuesday 10/16, 8:11 AM CT
Trent Green was back at practice on Monday and could return to the playing field soon. “There has been nothing to say that I can’t come back and play,” Green told the Miami Herald. “Now, it’s just a matter of the team and I discussing what needs to be done in the future. I have a few more tests to go through. But so far, everything has tested out normal.”
Warrick Dunn, RB, Tampa Bay BuccaneersTuesday 10/16, 5:19 AM CT
Warrick Dunn was not effective against the Giants Monday, rushing eight times for 15 yards. He also had two catches for 13 yards. You have to wonder when the Falcons will start to make more of an effort to feature Jerious Norwood (who had 138 yards and a score Monday, much of it coming on one run).
Alge Crumpler, TE, Tennessee TitansTuesday 10/16, 5:17 AM CT
Alge Crumpler had just one catch, for six yards, in Monday's loss to the Giants. He was targeted five times, and spent much of the night blocking.
Michael Bennett, RB, San Diego ChargersTuesday 10/16, 4:37 AM CT
The Chiefs traded Michael Bennett to the Buccaneers on Monday, according to the Kansas City Star. The terms of the deal have yet to be announced. Bennett should get plenty of playing time, as the Buccaneers have already lost three prominent running backs to injury (Carnell Williams, Michael Pittman, Mike Alstott).
