Nick Collins, S, Green Bay PackersMonday 11/5, 10:14 PM CT
Packers safety Nick Collins will miss several weeks, and is out indefinitely with a sprained knee ligament that he suffered in the game against the Chiefs on Sunday. Collins injured the left knee when tackling Chiefs wideout Samie Parker. Rookie Aaron Rouse is expected to start in Collins’ absence.
Chris Henry, WR, Cincinnati BengalsMonday 11/5, 10:13 PM CT
Bengals receiver Chris Henry was activated on Monday after serving an eight-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Henry had been charged in four different criminal cases in his first two seasons with the Bengals.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh SteelersMonday 11/5, 10:13 PM CT
Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was taken off of the field with the aid of trainers after suffering what appeared to be a right leg injury. Charlie Batch replaced Roethlisberger in the game.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh SteelersMonday 11/5, 10:13 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger has had a ridiculous first half against the Ravens tonight, going 11-for-14 for 164 yards and five touchdowns. He has been nearly unstoppable passing through a driving rain and a terrible Ravens backup secondary.
Dunta Robinson, CB, Houston TexansMonday 11/5, 10:12 PM CT
Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson is out for the remainder of the season with a gruesome knee injury. Doctors told Robinson that his hamstring completely ripped off the bone, and he may have torn a knee ligament. Robinson was injured while trying to tackle and strip the ball from Raiders receiver Ronald Curry on Sunday.
Jay Cutler, QB, Denver BroncosMonday 11/5, 10:12 PM CT
Jay Cutler ’s MRI came back negative on Monday, meaning that he does not have a hairline fracture to his injured left leg. Coach Mike Shanahan did not know if he would practice this week or start this Sunday in Kansas City. If Cutler is unable to play, Patrick Ramsey would get the start.
Laveranues Coles, WR, New York JetsMonday 11/5, 10:11 PM CT
Jets wide receiver Laveranues Coles missed Sunday’s game against the Redskins due to a concussion, but has been cleared to practice this week. Coles had a streak of 107 straight games played, which was the longest active streak by a wide receiver.
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City ChiefsMonday 11/5, 10:11 PM CT
Chiefs running back Larry Johnson suffered a mid-foot sprain in Sunday’s loss to Green Bay, and he spent most of Monday undergoing treatment and tests with medical staff. Coach Herm Edwards said that they weren’t sure of the severity and “if he’s going to be out, and if so, how long.”
Jonas Jennings, T, San Francisco 49ersMonday 11/5, 10:10 PM CT
Things just went from bad to worse for the 49ers offense. Left tackle Jonas Jennings was placed on injured reserve, and starting right guard Justin Smiley might soon join him. Jennings has been suffering ankle injury that will require surgery, and Smiley has a torn labrum.
David Carr, QB, New York GiantsMonday 11/5, 10:09 PM CT
Quarterback David Carr suffered a concussion late in Sunday’s game against the Titans, and is now questionable for this week’s game against the Falcons. If Carr can’t go, and Vinny Testaverde hasn’t recovered from his Achilles’ tendon injury, Matt Moore would start on Sunday.
Donald Lee, TE, Green Bay PackersMonday 11/5, 10:09 PM CT
The Packers signed tight end Donald Lee to a four-year extension on Monday. According to NFL.com the deal is worth around $12 million.
Leonard Little, DE, St. Louis RamsMonday 11/5, 10:08 PM CT
Rams defensive end Leonard Little will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left big toe. Little will be the sixth player the Rams have placed on injured reserve this season.
Todd Heap, TE, Baltimore RavensMonday 11/5, 10:07 PM CT
According to ESPN’s Suzy Kolber, the Baltimore Ravens will be without tight end Todd Heap this evening. Heap has been battling a hamstring injury for a few weeks now.
Cleo Lemon, QB, Jacksonville JaguarsMonday 11/5, 1:15 PM CT
Cleo Lemon will remain the Dolphins starting quarterback when the Dolphins return from their bye in Week 10, coach Cam Cameron told the Associated Press on Monday. "We have two guys who don't have a lot of experience," Cameron said of Lemon and rookie John Beck. "We're going to need them both." A rather cryptic quote from coach Cameron there, but this ends speculation that the Beck Era would get underway in Miami this week. Frankly, this decision makes no sense, but fantasy owners have an easy decision in avoiding both players this week and for the remainder of the season.
Tarvaris Jackson, QB, Minnesota VikingsMonday 11/5, 8:00 AM CT
Tarvaris Jackson was knocked out for a couple of minutes Sunday and left the game for good as a result. Although he had no residual effects after the game, he did sustain a concussion that could keep him out of Week 10's game, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. It's a good sign that he felt well after the contest, but time will tell if he can play this weekend.
Shaun Alexander, RB, Monday 11/5, 7:53 AM CT
Shaun Alexander missed some action early in Sunday's game with a sprained left knee and ankle. He was able to return, though he wasn't on the field for the Seahawks' last series in regulation or for overtime, according to the Seattle Times. Alexander mustered just 32 yards on 14 carries Sunday, as he continued to perform poorly. More about his status for their next game will be known after results of X-rays are released.
Tank Johnson, DT, Dallas CowboysMonday 11/5, 7:17 AM CT
Tank Johnson has completed his eight-game suspension. He's expected to be added to the Cowboys' active roster Monday and play against the Giants in Week 10.
Brandon Jones, WR, Tennessee TitansMonday 11/5, 7:09 AM CT
Brandon Jones returned to action Sunday for the first time since undergoing knee surgery on Oct. 15. He didn't have any catches but did pick up 18 rushing yards on a reverse. He still has some sleeper potential down the stretch, so keep an eye on him.
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City ChiefsMonday 11/5, 6:47 AM CT
Larry Johnson was forced out of Sunday's game with an ankle injury. He left the locker room on crutches, and coach Herm Edwards was pessimistic about the chances of LJ playing in Week 10, according to the KC Star. "He couldn’t put any weight on his foot coming off the field," Edwards said. "That’s never good. We’ll just wait until the week progresses and see what happens." If LJ can't play, the Chiefs would use a combination of Priest Holmes and rookie Kolby Smith; Holmes, who has hardly been on the field in two years, would be the featured back, while Smith, who hasn't carried the ball this season, should chip in.
Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Indianapolis ColtsMonday 11/5, 6:38 AM CT
Anthony Gonzalez dislocated his thumb one play into Sunday's game. He returned to the contest but was ineffective and was unable to complete the game, according to the Indianapolis Star. "I tried to go back in and I just couldn't hold anything," Gonzalez said. "On the sideline I was trying to hold the ball and see if I could at least hold it, but I had no grip whatsoever." Whether he will be able to suit up for the Colts' next game will depend on how quickly the digit heals this week and whether he can deal with the pain.
Chad Johnson, WR, Cincinnati BengalsMonday 11/5, 6:30 AM CT
Chad Johnson was carted off the field with a neck injury Sunday and taken to a hospital. Johnson was able to leave the hospital and fly back home with the team in the evening, though, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. A CT scan on his neck came back normal. At this point, it appears that he escaped without a serious injury, but his status for Week 10 is completely up in the air. Chris Henry is set to return from his suspension and presumably would start if Ocho Cinco is held out of the game.
Travis Henry, RB, Monday 11/5, 6:21 AM CT
Travis Henry left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a knee injury. Afterward, he said he was fine and could have returned, according to the Denver Post. The Lions were busy embarrassing the Broncos, so there was no need for Henry to come back into the game. Still, with a sore knee and ribs, Henry's status this week will be something to keep an eye on.
Jay Cutler, QB, Denver BroncosMonday 11/5, 6:16 AM CT
The injury that knocked Jay Cutler out of Sunday's game was a bruised lower left fibula. X-rays were negative, but the Broncos are concerned that an MRI Monday could reveal more damage, according to the Denver Post. "There might be a hairline (fracture) in there," Cutler said. We'll have to wait for the results of the MRI to come back, but it looks like playing in Week 10 could be difficult for him. Patrick Ramsey would start if Cutler can't.
Ahman Green, RB, Houston TexansMonday 11/5, 6:09 AM CT
After being a late scratch in Week 8, Ahman Green was active for Week 9. However, Green's troublesome knee kept him from completing the game, as he left in the second quarter, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I hurt my knee against Kansas City, and it hasn't been right since," said Green. "I feel like I've been playing with a flat tire all season. A car doesn't run right with a flat tire. Eventually, I'll get it fixed, but I don't think it'll be until after the season." Realistically, Green's "flat tire" is going to make him risky the rest of the season.
