Terrell Owens, WR, Dallas CowboysThursday 11/8, 11:36 PM CT
Terrell Owens was fined $10,000 Thursday for violating the NFL uniform and equipment rule, according to the AP. After scoring a touchdown in Sunday's victory over the, Owens waved a personalized towel on the sideline. "It's stuff like that," Owens said. "People try to make a big deal out of it. It's not any different than Chad (Johnson) going to the sidelines and taking (out) a coat. All I had was a little towel, and now they want to make that into a big deal."
Justin Smiley, G, Miami DolphinsThursday 11/8, 11:33 PM CT
Justin Smiley was placed on IR Thursday after undergoing season-ending surgery on his right shoulder, according to the AP. David Baas will replace Smiley in the starting lineup.
Bobby Wade, WR, Minnesota VikingsThursday 11/8, 11:31 PM CT
Bobby Wade was limited in last week's game against San Diego due to a hyper-extended knee, and he's been limited in practice again this week, according to the AP. Wade's availability for this weekend's contest against Green Bay is unclear.
Zach Thomas, LB, Dallas CowboysThursday 11/8, 5:31 PM CT
Zach Thomas, who has been battling concussion symptoms, is still awaiting medical clearance, but he expects to play Sunday against Buffalo, according to the AP. "I've got to be smart," he said. "But I feel fine right now."
Ruben Brown, G, Chicago BearsThursday 11/8, 5:29 PM CT
Ruben Brown has been placed on IR with a shoulder injury, according to the AP. With Brown sidelined, Terrence Metcalf likely will move into the starting lineup for Chicago.
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City ChiefsThursday 11/8, 5:27 PM CT
There have been some reports circulating that Larry Johnson's foot injury would force him to miss the rest of the season. However, the Chiefs issued a statement Thursday stating that LJ is showing "significant" improvement, according to SportsTicker. "Larry has made significant improvement with less swelling and pain in his injured right foot," the statement said. "His status will be re-evaluated again early next week with further exams." Johnson will still be sidelined in Week 10, but hopefully he'll be able to return soon. Priest Holmes and Kolby Smith will handle the load for the time being.
Eddie Kennison, WR, Thursday 11/8, 5:25 PM CT
Eddie Kennison, who has played just two games this season due to hamstring issues, will return to the lineup on Sunday against the Broncos, according to SportsTicker. "We probably would have pushed the issue (last Sunday against Green Bay) if that was a playoff game or something that would have decided us making the playoffs or winning the division I probably would have played," Kennison said. Even with Kennison returning to action, he can't be considered a fantasy option right now outside of deep leagues.
Maurice Morris, RB, Seattle SeahawksThursday 11/8, 5:22 PM CT
The Seahawks plan on using Maurice Morris as their feature back Monday night if Shaun Alexander can't play, according to the Seattle Times. Alexander is a question mark because of knee and ankle injuries. The Niners have ceded three running back touchdowns in their last three games, so there's a chance Morris makes fantasy owners happy this Monday if he gets the start. Leonard Weaver would presumably be a more active part of the passing game with Alexander out.
Ryan Grant, RB, Green Bay PackersThursday 11/8, 3:21 PM CT
Ryan Grant was limited during practice for a second consecutive day on Thursday, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He is trying to bounce back from a concussion he received during Sunday’s win over the Chiefs.
Sidney Rice, WR, Minnesota VikingsThursday 11/8, 3:18 PM CT
Sidney Rice did not practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. His status for Sunday’s game against the Packers is unclear. Rice hauled in a long touchdown pass last week while filling in for start Troy Williamson, who took the week off to tend to family matters. Rice has been more productive than Williamson, and we believe it’s only a matter of time before he takes over the starting job.
Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans SaintsThursday 11/8, 1:44 PM CT
Saints running back Reggie Bush was not at practice Wednesday. The New Orleans Time-Picayune reports he’s suffering from a bone bruise in his left knee, although Bush expects to play on Sunday. "The knee is good," Bush said. "There's nothing broken, nothing torn or anything like that. Just a normal, everyday football injury you go through. We're just taking precautionary (measures) to get ready for this game."
Byron Leftwich, QB, Pittsburgh SteelersThursday 11/8, 1:24 PM CT
Falcons quarterback Byron Leftwich endured a minor setback in his recovery from ankle surgery. "He went out and threw on Monday and got real sore from doing that," Falcons coach Bobby Petrino told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "He took today off." Leftwich told the paper that he expects to be back in a week, but Petrino estimates that he’s two weeks away. Either way, fantasy owners shouldn’t be considering Leftwich for their team.
Chad Johnson, WR, Cincinnati BengalsThursday 11/8, 11:26 AM CT
Chad Johnson was limited during Wednesday’s practice because of the neck injury he suffered in Week 9, but teammate Carson Palmer expects him to play this week despite the injury. “Chad looked great,” Palmer told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “He ran around, caught a bunch of balls, was going full speed and looked good.”
Chris Brown, RB, Houston TexansThursday 11/8, 11:12 AM CT
Chris Brown returned to practice Wednesday, splitting carries with Chris Henry while starter LenDale White rested a sore toe. “I think Chris is ready to come back, but Coach Fisher has to decide what we’re going to do,” White told the Tennessean. “Chris looked real good. He had some time off and he told me he feels good, so we’ll be happy to see him back.”
Todd Heap, TE, Baltimore RavensThursday 11/8, 11:10 AM CT
Todd Heap returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis. “Todd moved around pretty good today,” Ravens coach Brian Billick told the Baltimore Sun. “Again, it’s how does he feel the rest of the week?” Heap has missed three of the past four games because of his hamstring injury.
Plaxico Burress, WR, New York GiantsThursday 11/8, 10:49 AM CT
Plaxico Burress made a rare appearance at practice on Wednesday. He has been dealing with a sprained right ankle since early August. "I was mixing it up, going in and out, running some of the plays I thought were important for me to be in; some of the plays we'll be running this week," Burress tells the New York Post. Fantasy owners should plan on using him this Sunday.
Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia EaglesThursday 11/8, 10:39 AM CT
The Eagles have nine players on their injury report for Week 10, but everyone practiced fully on Wednesday. The list included running back Brian Westbrook (shoulder), tight end L.J. Smith (back), and wide receivers Reggie Brown (neck), Kevin Curtis (knee), Jason Avant (groin), and Greg Lewis (chest).
David Garrard, QB, Jacksonville JaguarsThursday 11/8, 10:36 AM CT
David Garrard returned to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity, just over two weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in the Jaguars’ week seven loss to the Colts. He told the Florida Times-Union he’ll monitor any swelling in his ankle and believes he’ll know by the end of the week whether he’ll be available for Sunday’s game against the Titans. “I don’t feel like I’ll be able to play my game if I’m hobbling around or gimping around or whatever you want to call it because I’ve never played like that,” Garrard told the Times-Union. “There’s payback, but you can’t let that cloud your thinking or your preparation because it’s not about me paying back this team. It’s about getting a win.”
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City ChiefsThursday 11/8, 10:22 AM CT
Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards confirmed on Wednesday that Larry Johnson would not play in Week 10 due to a right mid-foot sprain. “What I’ve been told... from our doctors is that his foot is still (swollen) and they’re still trying to look at it to find out exactly where he’s at,” Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. “All I know is what I just told you." Priest Holmes will start in his place, and rookie Kolby Smith will also see some of the action.
J.P. Losman, QB, Buffalo BillsThursday 11/8, 10:21 AM CT
Head coach Dick Jauron admitted Wednesday that J.P. Losman's solid performance against the Bengals a week ago played a part in his decision to start Losman again in Week 10, and he hinted that Losman will continue to start as long as he continues to play well. "I think we'll just keep moving along here and hopefully we won't change a lot," Jauron told the team's official website. "But we don't know… Again, it's not like we're looking for a quarterback. We feel like we have at least two that we think can play and hopefully win in this league." Rookie Trent Edwards' injured wrist is healed to the point where he could serve as the backup on Sunday in Miami, but it appears Losman will be given another chance to keep the job he lost due to an injury of his own earlier in the year. An offensive line that continues to jell and a bad Dolphins defense should help J.P. put up solid numbers again this week.
Troy Williamson, WR, Jacksonville JaguarsThursday 11/8, 10:20 AM CT
Troy Williamson returned to practice after missing a week so that he could be with his family following the death of his grandmother. “I’d throw this football thing away for my family,” Williamson told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. He did not play in the Week 9 win over the Chargers.
Marvin Harrison, WR, Indianapolis ColtsThursday 11/8, 10:18 AM CT
Marvin Harrison practiced on a limited basis Wednesday as Colts trainers put him through a strenuous workout to simulate game action, according to the Indianapolis Star. “When we get him in practice, I think that’s when we know he’s going to play,” head coach Tony Dungy told the Star. “When that is satisfactory to them, then they’ll let him go.” Aaron Moorehead is expected to replace Harrison in the starting lineup for this week’s game against the Chargers.
Jon Kitna, QB, Detroit LionsThursday 11/8, 10:14 AM CT
Jon Kitna was limited in practice on Wednesday by a sore left shoulder, according to the team’s official website. He is expected to start on Sunday against the Cardinals.
Travis Henry, RB, Thursday 11/8, 10:14 AM CT
Travis Henry did not practice on Wednesday due to swelling in his left knee. Head coach Mike Shanahan tells the Rocky Mountain News that he expects Henry to play in Week 10 against the Chiefs.
Ryan Grant, RB, Green Bay PackersThursday 11/8, 10:09 AM CT
Ryan Grant was limited in practice on Wednesday due to the concussion he suffered back in Week 8. “I took some reps today,” Grant told the Green Bay Press Gazette. “I’m feeling pretty good. During the game, I knew something wasn’t right. I was just dazed, but I feel good now.”
Jay Cutler, QB, Denver BroncosThursday 11/8, 10:07 AM CT
Jay Cutler practiced on Wednesday despite a bruised left leg. "He's a tough kid," head coach Mike Shanahan tells the Denver Post. "He'll play if he can... If there isn't a setback, he should be ready to go." The Broncos visit the Chiefs in Week 10.
Devin Hester, WR, Chicago BearsThursday 11/8, 10:02 AM CT
Devin Hester did not practice on Wednesday because he was ill, according to the Chicago Tribune. He is expected to play on Sunday against the Raiders.
