Kyle Boller, QB, Baltimore RavensTuesday 11/13, 9:46 PM CT
Kyle Boller is back in a starting role, as Steve McNair (shoulder) won't be available for 2-3 weeks. Boller's first assigment is reasonable enough; a match with the leaky Cleveland secondary.
Steve McNair, QB, Tuesday 11/13, 9:44 PM CT
Steve McNair will be out 2-3 weeks with the injury to his non-throwing shoulder, the Baltimore Sun reports. This clears the way for Kyle Boller to start against Cleveland this week.
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City ChiefsTuesday 11/13, 2:17 PM CT
Chiefs president and general manager Carl Peterson issued a statement on Tuesday saying that Larry Johnson will not play in Week 11 due to his right mid-foot sprain, the team's official web site reports. Priest Holmes will presumably start in his place.
J.P. Losman, QB, Buffalo BillsTuesday 11/13, 12:09 PM CT
Head coach Dick Jauron announced Tuesday that J.P. Losman will start for the Bills on Sunday against the Patriots, reports the Bills official website. Losman struggled against the Dolphins in Week 10 but his ability to lead a fourth-quarter comeback and the fact that the Bills are riding a four-game winning streak likely led Jauron to opt not to shake things up and re-insert rookie Trent Edwards into the starting lineup. Losman is not a good fantasy option against a Patriots defense that has baffled him throughout his short career.
Jeff Garcia, QB, Tampa Bay BuccaneersTuesday 11/13, 11:17 AM CT
Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia is dealing with a sore throwing arm, but it is not expected to prevent him from playing on Sundays. “All the veteran quarterbacks go through it,'' head coach Jon Gruden told the St. Petersburg Times. "We're one of the few teams right now that have had a guy go all the way at quarterback this season. We're going to do the best we can. If we have to be creative with the practice schedule, we'll be creative with the practice schedule as we have been in the last couple weeks.'' The Buccaneers offense would be in big trouble if Garcia went down, but it doesn’t seem like this ailment is anything to worry about.
Byron Leftwich, QB, Pittsburgh SteelersTuesday 11/13, 10:58 AM CT
Falcons head coach Bobby Petrino would not commit to a starting quarterback during his Monday press conference, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said a decision will be made once Byron Leftwich, who was the starter before being injured, is medically cleared to return.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona CardinalsTuesday 11/13, 10:52 AM CT
Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin will likely not be full strength at any point this season because of his lingering hip injury, according to the Arizona Republic. He had a severe injury, and he worked hard to get back from it," coach Ken Whisenhunt told the paper, "but your body can't recover, especially when you're out here pounding it every day in practice and in games. It really bothers him when he picks his leg up, and that's when you drive in and out of your routes. Until he gets back 100 percent, he's not going to be as good as maybe you would expect for him to be." This is very bad news for owners of Boldin, who has only 14 catches for 94 yards in his three games since returning from the hip injury. He does have two touchdowns, but both of them came in his first week back. The Cardinals next three games are all against poor pass defenses, but your expectations for him should be lowered by this revelation.
Jason Taylor, DE, Washington RedskinsTuesday 11/13, 10:45 AM CT
An MRI taken on Jason Taylor's injured ankle came back negative on Monday and the defensive lineman is expected to play in Week 11, according to the Miami Herald.
Cleo Lemon, QB, Jacksonville JaguarsTuesday 11/13, 10:35 AM CT
Coach Cam Cameron told the Miami Herald he will spend a couple of days evaluating both Cleo Lemon and John Beck and will announce who his Week 11 starter is on Wednesday. "Our staff will go back through the tape again [Monday] and get a chance to reflect on it [Tuesday] and we'll know by Wednesday what direction we're going," Cameron said.
Antoine Winfield, CB, Minnesota VikingsTuesday 11/13, 10:34 AM CT
Antoine Winfield did some running on Monday and expects to play on Sunday against the Raiders, he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He did not play in Week 10 due to a hamstring injury.
Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit LionsTuesday 11/13, 10:29 AM CT
Calvin Johnson aggravated his back injury during Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals, head coach Rod Marinelli told the Detroit Free Press. However, he did not say whether the injury would prevent Johnson from playing in Week 11.
Troy Brown, WR, New England PatriotsTuesday 11/13, 10:26 AM CT
Troy Brown practiced for the first time this season on Monday. He has been on the physically unable to perform list all season after offseason knee surgery. "Yeah, basically, the window had expired as far as activating [him], and we'll make a decision whenever we have to make a decision, whatever point that is," Bill Belichick told the Boston Globe.
Rex Grossman, QB, Chicago BearsTuesday 11/13, 10:18 AM CT
Bears head coach Lovie Smith declined to name a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. “First off, (Griese) needs to be medically cleared,” Smith told the Chicago Sun-Times. “If he’s cleared medically, we’ll go from there. It’s unclear who is going to start.” Rex Grossman would start if Griese is unable to play.
Josh McCown, QB, Carolina PanthersTuesday 11/13, 9:52 AM CT
Josh McCown felt a little better on Monday, one day after suffering a bruised right thigh against the Bears. However, McCown may not keep his starting job for Week 11. "We have to look at his health and take everything into account," head coach Lane Kiffin tells the Oakland Tribune.
Tony Scheffler, TE, Denver BroncosTuesday 11/13, 9:44 AM CT
Tony Scheffler is expected to practice this week despite a bruised chest suffered in Week 10, the Denver Post reports.
Javon Walker, WR, Oakland RaidersTuesday 11/13, 9:40 AM CT
Javon Walker does not think he'll be able to suit up for the Week 11 tilt with the Titans. He underwent right knee surgery on October 19 and began running last week. “I would say it's probably a longshot for him to play on Monday night,” head coach Mike Shanahan tells the Denver Post. “He's got to show us what he can do during practice this week." Walker has missed the last six games.
Santana Moss, WR, Washington RedskinsTuesday 11/13, 9:33 AM CT
Santana Moss may be able to play in Week 11. He sat out in Week 10 due to a bruised heel. X-rays last week and an MRI on Monday showed no significant damage, and he is expected to resume running during the practice week, the Washington Post reports. Fantasy owners have no reason to trust him at this point.
James Thrash, WR, Washington RedskinsTuesday 11/13, 9:30 AM CT
James Thrash was walking around on crutches on Monday and is unlikely to play in Week 11 due to a high left ankle sprain. "We did an MRI on his ankle, his lower leg and his knee, and he looks good. He's just got a bruised knee," director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer tells the Washington Post. "He has a high ankle sprain. On a grade of one to three it's a Grade 1."
Sean Taylor, S, Washington RedskinsTuesday 11/13, 9:25 AM CT
Sean Taylor will miss at least two weeks after spraining his MCL in Week 10. "I would say he will be out for a little while," head coach Joe Gibbs tells the team's official web site. "How long? I'm careful to say with these guys because physically they aren't like the rest of us. We just need to take it day by day, but I would assume he will be out for a little bit." Pierson Prioleau is expected to start in his place. The Redskins face the Cowboys and Buccaneers in Weeks 11 and 12.
Plaxico Burress, WR, New York GiantsTuesday 11/13, 9:17 AM CT
Plaxico Burress admitted on Monday that his sprained right ankle is not improving as hoped. "I had a bye week and it really didn't change too much," Burress tells the New York Post. "I'll be glad when it's all over so I can rest it and get it back healthy... Today it's probably the worst it's felt. I don't think it's going to get better. It's something I have to play and deal with for a little while." The ankle has bothered Burress since August 2.
Steve McNair, QB, Tuesday 11/13, 8:59 AM CT
The Ravens have been unwilling to bench Steve McNair despite his abysmal performance, but a newly discovered injury may make that decision for them. McNair developed “substantial” soreness in his non-throwing shoulder Monday morning, according to the Baltimore Sun, and it could prompt a call to Kyle Boller. “I have to wait and see,” Ravens coach Brian Billick told the Sun. “Right now, the injury is one that we’ll have to address first and foremeost to see what exactly that it is and make our evaluations going forward.”
Josh Scobee, K, Jacksonville JaguarsTuesday 11/13, 8:44 AM CT
Josh Scobee , who hasn’t kicked since straining his quad in pregame warm-ups prior to the season opener, might be back in the mix this week. “We’ll see how he goes thorugh practice this week and make a determination at some point,” Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times-Union. “He kicked last week without incident, so I do think he’s closer to being an option for us.”
David Garrard, QB, Jacksonville JaguarsTuesday 11/13, 8:17 AM CT
David Garrard , who has missed the Jaguars’ last three games because of a high ankle sprain, could return to the starting lineup this week. “I’m almost positive [about playing] if we don’t have any setbacks during the week or anything,” Garrard told the Florida Times-Union. “I think it’ll be full speed ahead.”
