Brock Berlin, QB, St. Louis RamsSaturday 12/8, 11:55 PM CT
Brock Berlin, by default, will start at Cincinnati on Sunday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Berlin is getting the call because Marc Bulger (concussion) and Gus Frerotte are both unavailable. Berlin has been on the Rams practice squad for most of the year, and he's taken very few reps with the St. Louis receivers. Todd Bouman has been signed to be the No. 2 quarterback for the Rams this week.
Marc Bulger, QB, St. Louis RamsSaturday 12/8, 11:53 PM CT
Marc Bulger has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game at Cincinnati, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He's coming off a concussion. Untested Brock Berlin will get the start in his place, making his first career start.
Marvin Harrison, WR, Indianapolis ColtsSaturday 12/8, 11:50 PM CT
Marvin Harrison didn't travel to Baltimore with the Colts, making it official - he's out for another week. Harrison has now missed seven games in a row with his knee injury.
Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco 49ersSaturday 12/8, 11:30 AM CT
The 49ers were no closer Friday to setting a timetable or target date for the return of Alex Smith, who is nursing a shoulder injury. "I'm relying on the medical staff," coach Mike Nolan said in the Oakland Tribune. "They said to give him light throwing. He did light throwing. Our planning as coaching staff is based on the medical staff, and we can't go any further than that." Trent Dilfer will start again for the Niners Sunday.
Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona CardinalsSaturday 12/8, 11:27 AM CT
Larry Fitzgerald ran routes in practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest due to a groin injury. Fitzgerald is more likely to play than fellow receiver Anquan Boldin, but it's still very much up in the air as to whether he'll be able to suit up. A decision on his status won't be made until Sunday morning. Bryant Johnson would receive a big boost in value if both Fitzgerald and Boldin are out.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona CardinalsSaturday 12/8, 11:22 AM CT
Whether or not Anquan Boldin will play this weekend will not be decided until Sunday morning before the game. Boldin missed a third consecutive day of practice Friday because of his dislocated toe, but he did do some jogging on the side, according to the Arizona Republic. Given the importance of the game for the Cardinals, Boldin will do everything he can to get on the field. "If I can, I will," he said of playing. "I've never been in this position."
Brett Favre, QB, Green Bay PackersSaturday 12/8, 11:14 AM CT
Brett Favre practiced Friday and will start Sunday despite his elbow injury. "I thought he threw the ball well today," coach Mike McCarthy said in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I don't think Brett will be hindered from his injury."
Rex Grossman, QB, Chicago BearsSaturday 12/8, 11:09 AM CT
The left knee injury that forced Rex Grossman out of Thursday's game is likely to keep the quarterback from playing again this year. However, Grossman has just a sprained medial collateral ligament that should be fully recovered in a month and will not require surgery, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Brian Griese will be under center for the Bears for the final three games.
Brian Dawkins, S, Philadelphia EaglesSaturday 12/8, 11:04 AM CT
Brian Dawkins left practice early Friday yesterday after his back stiffened up on him. However, coach Andy Reid said he thought Dawkins would be fine for tomorrow's game. "His back tightened up on him and we let him go in and get treatment on it," Reid said in the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I think he's going to be fine."
Shawne Merriman, LB, San Diego ChargersSaturday 12/8, 11:00 AM CT
Shawne Merriman missed Friday's practice due to a right calf injury, and coach Norv Turner said it's 50-50 whether Merriman will play Sunday. Merriman, though, insists he'll be on the field. "Yeah, I'll be good," Merriman said in the San Diego Union-Tribune. "It's calming down. I went out there Wednesday and did a couple of things, but Thursday and today I didn't do much. It's feeling good now. I'm just doing this as a precaution."
Daunte Culpepper, QB, Oakland RaidersSaturday 12/8, 10:57 AM CT
Daunte Culpepper missed another practice Friday due to a quad injury and is doubtful for Sunday's game. Josh McCown will start, and coach Lane Kiffin said he will gauge Culpepper's readiness in pregame warm-ups to determine whether he is healthy enough to be the backup, according to the Oakland Tribune. If Culpepper can't play, Andrew Walter will be the backup and JaMarcus Russell would have clipboard duty.
Donnie Edwards, LB, Kansas City ChiefsSaturday 12/8, 10:53 AM CT
Donnie Edwards, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, returned to practice Friday after missing the two previous days. However, coach Herm Edwards wouldn't make a commitment regarding Edwards' chances of playing Sunday, saying the decision would be made on game day, according to the Kansas City Star. Edwards has started 149 consecutive games, so the smart money would be on him giving it a go.
Marvin Harrison, WR, Indianapolis ColtsSaturday 12/8, 10:48 AM CT
Once again, it's not looking good for Marvin Harrison this week. Coach Tony Dungy said that a decision on Harrison would be made Sunday morning, but Dungy's comments were made prior to Friday's practice, a practice that Harrison was expected to participate in but did not, according to the Indianapolis Star. It would be the seventh straight game Harrison has missed.
Troy Polamalu, S, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 12/8, 10:42 AM CT
Troy Polamalu's knee injury is likely to keep him out a third straight week. The safety returned to practice Wednesday, but sat out Thursday and yesterday, according to the Boston Globe. He's officially listed as doubtful.
Jesse Chatman, RB, New York JetsSaturday 12/8, 10:36 AM CT
Jesse Chatman first said Friday that he would be a "game-time decision," but then later he said he would play. He is officially listed as questionable on the injury report. If Chatman is unable to go, Samkon Gado would get the start, according to the Miami Herald.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, Buffalo BillsSaturday 12/8, 10:20 AM CT
Rookie running back Marshawn Lynch made it through his third consecutive practice on Friday and is likely to play this Sunday against the winless Miami Dolphins. Lynch has missed the last three contests with a sprained left ankle.
