Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 1/5, 11:59 PM CT
Heath Miller was effective in Saturday's loss to Jacksonville, rolling up eight catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. This strong playoff showing comes on the heels of a breakthrough year for Miller; he set career marks for catches, yards and touchdowns (50-586-7) in 2007.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 1/5, 11:58 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger had one terrible half and one brilliant half in Saturday's playoff loss to Jacksonville. The opening 30 minutes saw three interceptions, two of them on terrible decisions, but Big Ben rallied and finished the night 29-for-42 passing, with 337 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Hines Ward, WR, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 1/5, 11:57 PM CT
Hines Ward was busy in Saturday's loss to Jacksonville, catching 10 passes for 135 yards. Ward also did a healthy share of yapping with the Jacksonville defensive backs, from opening snap to final gun.
Santonio Holmes, WR, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 1/5, 11:56 PM CT
Santonio Holmes was quiet for most of Saturday's loss to Jacksonville, as he struggled to shake free of Rashean Mathis. The only important play Holmes made was a 37-yard touchdown catch-and-run in the fourth period, but for the rest of the game he netted just two receptions for 12 yards.
Fred Taylor, RB, Jacksonville JaguarsSaturday 1/5, 11:55 PM CT
Fred Taylor was limited to 48 yards on 16 carries at Pittsburgh Saturday, though he did have a 1-yard scoring plunge. He wasn't used much in the passing game, as usual, catching one ball for two yards.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville JaguarsSaturday 1/5, 11:54 PM CT
Although Maurice Jones-Drew had just 29 yards on eight carries in Saturday's loss at Pittsburgh, he impacted the game in several other ways. He came through on a 43-yard touchdown catch, he had a 96-yard kickoff return down to the Pittsburgh 1-yard line, and he also scored a rushing TD.
Najeh Davenport, RB, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 1/5, 11:52 PM CT
Najeh Davenport rushed for just 25 yards on 16 carries in Saturday's loss to Jacksonville, though he did have a couple of short touchdown runs. Needless to say the Steelers missed Willie Parker on this night, albeit they scored 29 points without him.
David Garrard, QB, Jacksonville JaguarsSaturday 1/5, 11:51 PM CT
David Garrard struggled mightily in his first playoff start, completing just 9-of-21 passes at Pittsburgh, along with a pair of interceptions. Garrard did have one touchdown pass, though, and his 32-yard run on the final Jacksonville drive set up the game-winning field goal. Garrard gets a tough assignment at New England next week, unless the Titans upset San Diego Sunday.
D.J. Hackett, WR, Carolina PanthersSaturday 1/5, 7:49 PM CT
D.J. Hackett had six catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's win over Washington. He was Matt Hasselbeck's first read most of the day, in part because Deion Branch was out.
Shaun Alexander, RB, Saturday 1/5, 7:45 PM CT
Shaun Alexander was held to 46 yards on 15 carries in Saturday's win over Washington. The sledding probably won't be much easier next week at Green Bay.
Deion Branch, WR, Seattle SeahawksSaturday 1/5, 2:48 PM CT
The Seattle Times reports Deion Branch is inactive today against Washington. He's sidelined with a calf injury, an injury he suffered during practice in Week 17. Bobby Engram will start in his place.
Deion Branch, WR, Seattle SeahawksSaturday 1/5, 10:18 AM CT
Deion Branch is listed as questionable for Saturday's playoff matchup with the Redskins. He's battling a calf injury and probably will be a game-time call.
Vince Young, QB, Tennessee TitansSaturday 1/5, 10:10 AM CT
Vince Young was able to take part in most of Friday's practice, though he didn't work out at full speed. He'll be a game-time decision on Sunday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He'll test out his sore quadriceps before the contest; so long as he can move close to full speed, he'll start, if not, Kerry Collins will get the nod.
Troy Polamalu, S, Pittsburgh SteelersSaturday 1/5, 10:03 AM CT
For the first time in over two weeks, Troy Polamalu was able to practice on Friday. "He looked good enough to be a game-time decision," coach Mike Tomlin told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I know he feels well, but we'll see. If he does play, there will be no excuses. The standard of expectation won't change. If he's going, he's going. It won't be one of those things, well, he was playing injured." Barring something unexpected, Polamalu will start for the Steelers tonight against the Jags.
