Terrell Owens, WR, Dallas CowboysMonday 1/7, 7:49 PM CT
Officially Terrell Owens status for Sunday’s playoff game against the New York Giants is still listed as a game time decision, but some teammates are expecting him to be on the field. “We’re all counting on him playing,” said tight end Jason Witten. “He’s a tough guy. Nobody wants it more than he wants it himself to get out there and play. He’s a quick healer, and he looked good out there, I thought.” Owens participated in what Wade Phillips called a “limp-through” practice, and is trying to work on getting his timing back.
Deion Branch, WR, Seattle SeahawksMonday 1/7, 12:03 PM CT
Seahawks wideout Deion Branch missed Saturday’s playoff win because of a calf injury, but he told the Tacoma Tribune that he plans on playing this weekend. The paper also reports the Branch seemed close to playing last week. We’ll be watching his practice attendance this week to see if he gets some workouts in.
Earnest Graham, RB, Tampa Bay BuccaneersMonday 1/7, 11:58 AM CT
Buccaneers running back Earnest Graham is looking for a new contract following his breakout season, according to the Tampa Tribune. He has one year left on his current contract. "Time will tell. Hopefully, I did enough for a new contract," Graham told the paper after Sunday's loss to the Giants. "It's a business and I'm not an expert on it, so we'll see how it goes." The Buccaneers would be wise to reward Graham, who makes $512,520 per year with his current deal, for his huge season. If Tampa give Earnest a long-term deal and Carnell Williams comes back from his surgery, it could create plenty of competition at the starting running back spot next season.
Antonio Bryant, WR, Tampa Bay BuccaneersMonday 1/7, 10:13 AM CT
Antonio Bryant disputes an internet report that claimed he is likely to retire. “I am not retiring,” Bryant told the Detroit Free Press. “I’ll be playing somewhere next year, hopefully in Detroit, but I don’t know.” Bryant has two years remaining on his contract.
Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego ChargersMonday 1/7, 10:11 AM CT
Antonio Gates sprained his left big toe during Sunday's win over the Titans. When asked if he'd be available to face the Colts this weekend, Gates said, "I won't know until later this week," according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. You can expect him to do his best to get out on the field, but it's unlikely he'll be near full speed if he does play.
Atari Bigby, S, Green Bay PackersMonday 1/7, 10:09 AM CT
Atari Bigby will start on Saturday despite reporting late for work following the team’s week off. Head coach Mike McCarthy told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on Sunday that he met with Bigby and is “comfortable with the way he handled it.”
Mike Peterson, LB, Jacksonville JaguarsMonday 1/7, 10:05 AM CT
Jags coach Jack Del Rio wasn't optimistic yesterday about the odds of Mike Peterson returning from a hand injury to face the Pats this weekend. "Until we get that [medical clearance], it's not even something we can discuss," Del Rio said, according to the Florida Times-Union. Peterson said he plans to play, but like Del Rio point out, his wishes are moot until doctors clear him to hit the field.
