Roy Williams, WR, Dallas CowboysTuesday 1/8, 10:49 AM CT
Roy Williams ’ injured knee is feeling better. “I’m good,” Williams said in a Monday radio interview that was transcribed by the Detroit Free Press. “I’m real good. I think the media’s not 100 percent, but I felt like I could have played last week, maybe not a full game, but my presence could have been felt out there a little bit.” Williams finished the season on injured reserve with a sprained PCL in his right knee.
Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego ChargersTuesday 1/8, 9:40 AM CT
Antonio Gates may not be able to play this Sunday against the Colts because of a sprained and dislocated left big toe. "I don't know how long it's going to be," general manager A.J. Smith tells the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Shaun Hill, QB, San Francisco 49ersTuesday 1/8, 9:23 AM CT
The 49ers are expected to present quarterback Shaun Hill with a multi-year contract offer before the end of the week, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. "To their credit, they've been great," Bob Lattinville, Hill’s agent, told the paper. "They're getting to work on this early. I'm looking forward to seeing what the 49ers put together."
Laveranues Coles, WR, New York JetsTuesday 1/8, 9:01 AM CT
General manager Mike Tannenbaum indicated on Monday that the Jets are interested in keeping Laveranues Coles with the team for the long haul. He said in his postseason press conference that his goal is to keep Coles in a Jets uniform "for a long time," reports the Daily News. There had been rumors floating around that the Jets might think about cutting Coles, who is due $11 million over the next two years but has asked for a long-term extension. It appears those rumors were unfounded.
Chad Pennington, QB, Miami DolphinsTuesday 1/8, 8:57 AM CT
Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum confirmed on Monday that the team will bring quarterback Chad Pennington back in 2008. When asked about potential trade offers for Pennington, Tannenbaum told the Daily News, "We would listen to anything, but I expect Chad to be back." Pennington will apparently compete with the underwhelming Kellen Clemens for the Jets starting job next season, and Tannenbaum also said they wouldn't attempt to renegotiate his $4.8 million salary becaue they are well under the salary cap.
