Roy Williams, WR, Detroit LionsFriday 2/1, 2:00 PM CT
It's been rumored that the Lions might want to move Roy Williams this offseason, but coach Rod Marinelli nixed that notion, according to the Detroit News. "We expect him to have a big year for us," Marinelli said. Williams missed the end of last season with a knee injury, which should heal without surgery. The departure of OC Mike Martz and development of Calvin Johnson could curb his fantasy production next season, but he should still be a big-time option.
Shaun Rogers, DT, Cleveland BrownsFriday 2/1, 1:55 PM CT
Lions coach Rod Marinelli recently said Shaun Rogers will not be released, according to the Detroit News. "No. No way," Marinelli said. "He's too good a player. The amount of 'splash' plays he made last year was special. When he's humming, so is our team." It was reported last week that the club would seek to trade or release Rogers this offseason due to his weight and effort issues. Obviously, trading him makes far more sense, since he's extremely talented - and the Lions are far less likely to receive a good offer if suitors believe he'll eventually be dropped as a free agent.
Tom Brady, QB, New England PatriotsFriday 2/1, 1:44 PM CT
Tom Brady is listed, like always, as probable due to his shoulder, according to the Boston Globe. That's probably the least relevant story of the week, this side of the marriage proposal he received during media day. What is relevant is that his mild high ankle sprain is not listed on the report. He's taken part in full practices the past two days and is set to for the Super Bowl.
Jabar Gaffney, WR, New England PatriotsFriday 2/1, 1:40 PM CT
Jabar Gaffney has been limited in practice the past two days after injuring his shoulder earlier this week, according to the Boston Herald. "I just kind of came down on it and banged it up a little bit, but I got treatment pretty much all day [Wednesday]," said Gaffney. "I woke up [yesterday] morning and got some too. Hopefully, I'll be ready to go." Check back for updates to make sure he doesn't end up a late scratch for the Super Bowl.
Plaxico Burress, WR, New York GiantsFriday 2/1, 1:34 PM CT
It remains unclear whether Plaxico Burress will be able to take part in Friday's practice due to his sore knee and ankle, according to the New York Daily News. "It’s a day-to-day thing with Plaxico right now," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He was better yesterday than he was the day before. Hopefully he’ll be better today. He does have the ankle which been an issue all year long. Whether it has anything to do with it or not, the knee has (also) been a problem in the past. The swelling has been reduced somewhat. To say what he’ll do today, I won’t know until he gets over there." Burress barely practiced all season and played great, so expect him to play Sunday in the biggest game of his career. Only time will tell if either injury slows him during the game, though.
Bob Sanders, S, Indianapolis ColtsFriday 2/1, 1:28 PM CT
Bob Sanders recently underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the shoulder injury he sustained during their postseason loss to the Chargers, according to the Indianapolis Star. "One week ago, I had the right shoulder scoped, got it cleaned out," he said. "It's doing good. I'm trying to rehab it now. I won't have any problem being back by camp and being ready." The defensive player of the year should be fine for his offseason training, so no worries here.
