Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona CardinalsFriday 2/8, 7:43 PM CT
The Cardinals have made a contract extension offer in an effort to lower Larry Fitzgerald’s monstrous salary cap figure for 2008, according to the team's official website. General manager Rod Graves declined to get specific about the offer but did say it is substantial enough to raise Fitzgerald near the top of the NFL contract food chain. “Larry has proven himself to be an elite player, and the offer would put him among the elite players,” Graves said. “We feel good about our offer.” Fitzgerald’s salary is scheduled to be $14.6 million this season, with a cap number around $16 million.

Marcus Trufant, CB, Seattle SeahawksFriday 2/8, 3:44 PM CT
Marcus Trufant has enjoyed playing under assistant coach/defensive backs Jim Mora, who recommended he move to his natural left cornerback spot, where he thrived last season, according to USAToday.com. "Jim's a great guy and coach, and I had a lot of fun playing for him this season," Trufant said. "If I can be back, it'll be good. At the end of the day, it's all about business. Hopefully, things work out. But you never know." Trufant is an unrestricted free agent and hoping to cash in with a big contract, so time will tell whether the Seahawks can ante up enough to keep him in the fold or will place the franchise tag on him.
Randy Moss, WR, New England PatriotsFriday 2/8, 3:35 PM CT
Randy Moss changed how the New England Patriots played offense in 2007 according to an ESPN report. Moss' contract expires late this month, setting up an interesting offseason for all parties, and while the Patriots are not afraid to let players leave on both good or bad terms, Moss is expected to be tagged if a longterm contract can't be worked out. Teams have until Feb. 21 to name franchise and transition players. The smart money says the Patriots will name Moss their franchise player, then take their chances working out a multiyear deal.
Bryant Johnson, WR, San Francisco 49ersFriday 2/8, 3:32 PM CT
The Cardinals may move on without Bryant Johnson this offseason, as he will become a free agent at the end of the month, according to the East Valley Tribune. The Cards are deep at receiver and are trying to find some salary-cap flexibility, so Johnson could be expendable.

The Cardinals are trying to re-sign Calvin Pace before the end of the month, but it may come down to salary-cap room, according to the East Valley Tribune. Pace, who had a solid year with 97 tackles and 5.5 sacks, will become a free agent Feb. 29, if he's not locked up before then.
Edgerrin James, RB, Arizona CardinalsFriday 2/8, 3:25 PM CT

He's scheduled to be paid $5 million, but he'll cost $6.75 million on the salary cap. Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona CardinalsFriday 2/8, 11:30 AM CT
The agent for Kurt Warner would like the Cardinals to award a $500,000 bonus that Warner just missed statistically last season, according to the East Valley Tribune. But it doesn’t look like he’s going to get it. Warner’s contract called for him to get a series of $500,000 bonuses, up to $1.5 million. He had four categories to reach, and he made two of them, good for $1 million. He just missed in the other two: finishing in the NFL’s top 10 in passing yards and finishing with a passer rating of 90.0 (he ended up at 89.9)
Derek Anderson, QB, Cleveland BrownsFriday 2/8, 11:24 AM CT
Browns General Manager Phil Savage told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he was in email negotiations with quarterback Derek Anderson are all signs are positive in discussions that include both short and long-term deals. He said a report that Anderson is asking for a five-year deal is inaccurate. "Generally, the focus of our discussions has been on a shorter [two- to three-year deal] or a longer [six- to seven-year contract]," said Savage. "Never has a five-year proposal been part of the conversation. " Savage said the Browns have been proposing deals of two, three or even four years, while Anderson's camp has been seeking the longer one. But talks have been steady he remains optimistic. If the Browns don't sign Anderson by Feb. 28, he becomes a restricted free agent.

"My value on the field, they put in an extra DB in the game, and that really changes the whole game. They have to guard me kind of like a wide receiver so, you know, yeah, gotta to get that new money." An outright release of the team's backup signal caller could save the Panthers nearly $2.8 million under the salary cap, according to salary documents. Cutting Carr isn't as simple as just a bottom line transaction. His struggles were obvious while filling in for injured Jake Delhomme last season. However, the organization admires his natural talent and overall classiness. Carr's cap number is forecast to be $4.35 million but the team wouldn't save that much cap space with the move.
Brian Urlacher, LB, Chicago BearsFriday 2/8, 10:34 AM CT

The procedure was performed on Urlacher's lower neck region and focused on the cervical curve of the spine. Urlacher's durability has been a strong suit for the Bears captain. Only in 2004 did he fail to play all 16 regular-season games. The injury is not expected to prevent the middle backer from reporting to the team's first mandatory team activities in April.
